Painting Kitchen Floor Tiles

We moved into our house a year ago. There is lino down in the kitchen, but it keeps creeping across the floor and bubbling up. There are really old tiles under the lino so I was thinking about taking up the lino and painting the floor tiles. Has anyone ever done this before. Would floor piant look stupid in a kitchen?
