Taking photos at Premiership matches...

I'm heading over to a Premiership match next month and was wondering if anyone knows what's the rules regarding taking photos at the grounds. I'm assuming an slr with zoom lens wouldn't be allowed, but would a compact digital camera be allowed? Don't want to chance bringing anything that might get confiscated...

Last time I was in Liverpool, I brought my 20D with the 100-400mm on it. No problems at all. I was a good bit away, in the stands, but still got some semi-decent images.

I guess it would depend on the ground, and on security.

If you're an away fan you might as well forget it, especially if you go to Derby where the over zealous stewards will ban you for the tiniest excuse you give them. Some grounds are very strict on it, it's all to do with players imaging rights etc and if stewards see you with an SLR they will tell you to put it away. The Reebok was a great place for me to photograph, went to the Bolton v Newcastle game sitting in the front row and the steward came up to me and said I can take photos as long as there was no flash.

    You should have no problem.

This was taken with 300D & 70-300mm lens, as far as I remember.

Never had a problem at a ground in England.

If you're going to see one of the big clubs you'll get away with it. Most have a lot of foreigners travelling to the games and you sometimes see people with video cameras there. Been to over 300 league games and Derby are the only ones to have problems.

Jaysus, I was just looking at that picture again.
It was their first home game, after winning the league the season before.
Only 2 players from there still left & only one of them can get his game.
