my brother is trying to set up xbox on wireless eircom broadband

he has not used wireless before and has no idea what the WEP key is

Is there a standard wep for eircom routers as default?

you need to log into the router to make a wep key. at the moment i assume you are just using a pc with ethernet cable? log in should be 192.168.2.1 possibly 192.168.2.254. Once logged in you can make a wep key yourself then pop said wep key into your console. presto..

If its eircom broadband go to http://192.168.1.254/

Click wireless on the left and its the Encryption Key (the really long code). You might get it wrong first time, i know i did!

If your in any way concerned about the security of your home network then you should change your settings from the default ones that Eircom give you.
