Did anyone see the fantasy rugby (6 nations) in the times today?
It differs from premier league fantasy leagues in that there is no bank or fee on each player. You just pick your dream squad. Points are awarded for scores, appearances and lost for bookings.
    Sign up through ireland.com

Just wonder what peoples thoughts are on a top 15, ideal players are those that start and play full games. Obvious scores too.
    • Try - 5 pts
    • Assist - 3 pts
    • Penalty Kick - 1 pt (only one nominate kicker that can score points from a PK)
    • Drop Goal - 1 pt
    • Yellow - -1 pt
    • Red - -2pt
    • Full appearance - 3 pts
    • Part appearance - 2 pts (starts and taken off)
    • Substitute appearance - 1 pt

Its also possible to set up private leagues. Alot of workplaces will probably do this. So ideas on perfect 15.

The one for the WC was a little flawed in my opinion - possible to make waay too many transfers between rounds! Hopefully this one is better - will check it out (and have learned my lesson from WC - plenty of OHs for me!)

...why would you be signing up for an indo yoke at ireland.com?

I think he means the Times. I have a team, we should start a league.

In that case, EOS being who he is, i'm sure the following XV would have you on to a winner:

    15. Dempsey
    14. Horgan
    13. O'Driscoll
    12. D'Arcy
    11. [not sure]
    10. O'Gara
    9. Stringer
    8. Leamy
    7. Wallace
    6. Easterby
    5. O'Callaghan
    4. O'Kelly
    3. Hayes
    2. Flannery
    1. Horan

Its also flawed in that you can see what teams others have selected prior to the gameweek..

You can have 5 wingers. You can also have 8 backrowers if you think that's the best chance of getting points through tries.

Anybody know of a better online league system than this? I mean, that is a bit more realistic - demands 2 recognized locks, props etc.

I'm in like Flynn, whoever he is...

Here's a link to the list of starting teams. I imagine it will be updated fairly regularly so it will be handing when picking players...

Any idea on when the points for the weekend are calculated?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,058 ✭✭✭Ronan H

No bit I wish they would do it soon coz I'm dying to know how I got on. I understand it cann take a long time to collate all the info but I didnt thin the whole thing would be inaccessible. I was hoping at least I could see my team. At least then I could work out roughly what I got while waiting for the definitive result!

The scrum.com uses the same system, but differentiates the positions, so you can't pick 4 wingers etc.

It's a bit of a balls with the delay in logging in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,466 ✭✭✭Blisterman

No, you can join at any time, I believe. You just lose out on the first weeks points.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,466 ✭✭✭Blisterman

Ok, first week results are in.

    Top 5
    1: harps heros- 74pts
    2: Jamie's Team- 71pts
    3: Squeeze, Knees, Drive- 69
    3=:The Underdogs- 69
    5: Irregular Irishman - 68

Yours truley is smack bang in the middle, 17th out of 34 with 54 points. And it's a poor showing from O Horas hooligans. Last place with 34 points. Is O Horas hooligans, Eddie O' Sullivan is disguise?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,625 ✭✭✭flyswatter

I'm pretty pissed off with this because Sergio Parisse is in my team and I was delighted cos' he scored a try on Saturday (Hoping that Ireland would still win of course!) and I get this message: 'Please note that it is Martin Castrogiovanni and not Sergio Parisse that has been awarded the try for Italy, according to the Press Association.' Every source I have seen so far has Parisse credited as the scorer of the try (Irish Independent, Sunday Times, BBC Sport Website, RBS 6 Nations website even!)

I have joined the boars.ie league and am a pending member. Team name is 'Formidable!'

Ok, flyswatter. I've added you to the league. You'll also be happy to know, that the page now says.
"Please note that after much to-ing and fro-ing, it has become apparent that the official try scorer for the Italian try, as per the Press Association, remains as Sergio Parisse."

Cue everyone who picked Martin Castrogiovanni kicking up a fuss.

LOL, delighted to get that extra 5 points! There seems to be about 6 of us without a position in the league regardless of points though. Have we joined too late?

I think that's just because you joined after the first week's rankings.
I'm sure it'll update last week.

Not a bad week this week. 78pts. Picking Clerc was an inspired choice. :D

    40pts he got for me!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 160 ✭✭chicoben

111 points this week! Alright! Wilkinson isn't doing much though.

Awful score this week.Everyone seems to have had Clerc on their team even though he wasn't supposed to start. Why did Malzieu decide to injure himself during training  I was glad of Wilkinson anyway,2 assists by him.I'm all the way down to 11th now :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 160 ✭✭chicoben

I didn't change my team till last friday and i was gonna change Clerc till i looked at the teamsheets.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,625 ✭✭✭flyswatter

I'm still learning as I play this. I'll know next time to only make changes when all the squads are announced. I've had Bortalami in my team for 2 weeks and he hasn't played a single minute too so I must pay more attention to injuries and suspensions.

    Week 2 Results.

    Top 5 are:

1: IN ROD WE TRUST - 182 Points
    2: Anti Eddie - 178 Points
    3: Warriors - 170 points

    5: Doc Ramblers - 165 Points

Not much between them at all. Last weeks number one, Harp Heroes has dropped to number 6, with 164 Points.

Winner of the round is Anti Eddie, who got 111 in the round.

Very close at the top, only 1 point in it now!

A relatively quiet weekend with all the French backs under performing but the winner of the round is Warriors with 88 points, helped by his inspired signing of both Byrne and Bowe.

Good luck to everyone, only 2 more weeks left.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 160 ✭✭chicoben

Yeah it was quiet alright, Damn that Lee Byrne! I'd be in the lead if it wasnt for him!

Another quiet week this week with only a handful of tries.Warriors have pulled away from AntiEddie at the top of the table and with only 1 week left it will probably be between them for the top spot.

    3 Shan's Stars - 300
