So, who wants a Barrett M82A1?

Ok, I'm not a sniper-oriented airsoft player, but christ does this make me think twice about not having a go ... VFC have an airsoft version of the Barrett M82A1 sniper-rifle, aka the Barrett 'Light 50'

It's GBB, so I fear the power-output may make this airsoft beastie be a pipe-dream for anyone in the republic though :(

Dimension-wise it's longer than my M60A1, and not much lighter (roughly some 500g), so this is a heavy beast of a sniper-rifle copy

the Fiddy been out a while £1200 i think lovely piece of kit ,there is only 6 in the uk ,the barrett and the beast thats a scary thought

Ah, ok hadn't realised they'd been out already. And looking at RedWolf, there were apparently only 100 made worldwide so probably long gone by now :(

Interestingly enough, use of 134a gas gave a power output between 290-310fps with 8mm

Which probably puts it over, given that most 8mm BBs are at least .34g.

Pity, 'cos its a lovely little beast.

i know there is a shop in the uk with one ,i posted it in an old link a good while back,

where's the chinese when you want them

if you use 134a the fps comes in at 295fps

Piper do a version but acording to AATV its useless as a sniper becuase the variation on BB's is enormous. Still like to have one hanging on my wall though :p

It's so good a product that if you browse the official barret website it's listed there too.

Had my eye on that beauty for ages. Be great if they made a clone!!

The RS fifty mags are mahoosive. They're designed to fire all types of ammo from standard ball type right up to discarding sabot type (normally found only in high calibre tank mounted anti-armour cannon and experimental flechette guns), that's why they're so big. Supposedly Light Fifty operators usually carry the ammo seperately in a bag and only bring 2 or 3 mags because they take up too much room.

There are several versions of the airsoft M82, they still make some of them. Smokeys did a mediocre one that was twice the price of that one. VFC did a limited run (that one) but rumours abound that they'll be back. Remember the way they did a limited run of the BAR, then brought it back a couple of years later as a production model for a lower price? I wouldn't expect to see it for less than 900 though.

I wonder could a PCS fit into that? I'd love one, as Lemming said, sheerly for how cool it is but it'd be virtually unusable here with 1J limiting it.

If you had it in Berget with Red Gas though...

I was using one last night

In Call of duty 4 lol

That game. On Veteran mode (or whatever the highest is, I can't remember). With full graphics. The greatest war simulation ever. I think I'll play it now actually.

You can imagine someone with a fully powered M82 at Berget actually settling in at one point of an open area and just pumelling everyone who walks out from 60+ meters.

Yeah the single player is excellant, if a little short.
    Cant stand the multiplayer.....total piss.
    Anyway....sorry for off topic.....

    That video is sick! ^^

I made some searching about VFC M82A1 Berrett and some questioning and posting to another forums and this is a result:
Lads, good news is, that the gun looks really stunning. Old news is, that first time, when VFC came in with this is 2006, so its little bit "expired". And bad news is, that this gun is actually absolutely useless.
Im sorry, but I found one owner and story what he told me was terrific. For your imagination, VFC sended to almost all owners new, actually working parts. Gun must be dismantled before even first shot and some parts need to be rebuilded by owners. There was problem with gas leaking, with hop-up, with barrel movement. Lots of inner parts was maded from inappropriate materials ...
He told me: If you want it, It´s your, I newer sell a gun with so relief, this crap cause me almost all my nerves and lots of hours in shack.
I believe him, he is sniper in SWAT team and he is really good, good shooter and craftsman also.
So result: If you really want nice piece of metal to wall-mount, no problem, if somebody want use it like AS gun, Im sorry, forget it.

So you gonna buy it ? Even as a wall hanger its fantastic looking.

No, I´m out of money at the moment (and my walls are already full of guns ;) ). But it is really nice beast, without any doubt.
There is "original" picture before any tweaks:
    M82A1stare.jpg

... and after more than one year of hard work (with not so proud owner):
    M82-1.jpg

Notice watermarks, first is from AS team where is Harry part of. In second is name of their not only AS tweaks and gadgets company. Camo is Czech Vz95, just for full info.

I'm selling one if anyone is interested?
it's a VFC Mid Term M82A1 Gas rifle. I've never used it for skirmishing, and just bought it as an ornament. It's in 'as new' condition with the box, manual and all the bits. It even has an illuminated scope attached.

Re-read the forum charter please and do not question a Mods decision on thread again you may use the PM system if you wish to discuss this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,287 ✭✭✭kevteljeur

Hate to be pedantic, but... I believe the rifle is in fact a specialist support gun, and not a sniper rifle - apparently it's considered to be not quite accurate enough to be one...

And as if I know enough to lecture you lot! :D

I wasn't questioning your decision, I was giving an explanation. But don't worry, I won't be posting on your forum again!

Yeah, its no rifle. Its an artillery piece. I wish they'd make a clone of that NATO anti tank thing with exploding rounds. Its called the N-20 or something like that, looks damn cool.

I know personally of 2 here in the Republic, Sleepershark has One. The m107 version, Not gas operated uses upgraged AK version 3 gearbox, Semi auto, 650mm 6.01 inner barrell, Gearboxes are inter changable takes less than 5 min, So Republic gearbox is 1j with 0.2g which is pretty useless for practical shooting considering the lenght (little under 1.5m) and weight (11.5kg fully loaded, scope batt and ammo) but allows is to be skirmished, UK gearbox for Milsim Games in Britian Is 500fps with 0.2g but uses 4.3g which makes the 50 a proper airsoft Sniper system. Range accuracy, and hitting power. But you don't fork out that kind of money for only a good sniper system, you could do that with any quality airsoft sniper rifle, the Barrett is all about the looks, and personally I think its a great looking weapons system. For the moment its pretty unique in a sport full of the same M4s AKs etc, till of course the chinese clone it and sell it for $100,

I think its more down to the fact that the beast weighs in at nearly 14 kilos so its too heavy to patrol with. So you just gets yourself an LUP and support troops on the ground. Also, while it is done, its not considered particularly "sporting" to whack some bloke with a 50 cal round, so its more pushed towards blowing off tank tracks or tanking out apc's and other light armour
AFAIK its pretty damn accurate, tell you what go stand 2 miles down range with an apple and we'll find out:D:D:D

    For Skirmishing ......Hell no.
For pure Gucci goodness Oh Yaeh! LOVELY.

The AW338 is much too heavy to drag around the place,
a Barret would be crazy! so only wall hangers for me.

The AW338 is a lovely piece of kit. Mine is flawed though.
the restrictor valve was installed to make is sub 1j
and it fires at only 180fps some sniper.

Also there is a mag flaw in so far as they dont sell spares
of the actual part that holds the gas. They only sell the spares of the clip that holds the BB's that slots into the main mag that holds the gas. (and my mag leaks too even after changing the valve)

TBH, feck the Barret, just buy a Cheytac.

Cheytac although is nice still reminds me of
some PVC pipe strapped to a barrel and a big magazine.

You field a Barrett or own a Barrett and even though it
looks crude and simple everyone knows
    its a 50 cal/Barrett,

You field or own a Cheytac and you go what the heck is that?

    Nah, they go:
"Huh, I think I was hit just there, Hit!"
    ...
    "Me too, Hit!"
    ...
    "Ahh sh1t, Hit!"

And so on and so forth. Pity Liamo left our ranks, him and a Cheytac would keep most players in their foxholes :D

Cheers for that little gem! Redwolf was where I
originally purchased mine, At the time they did not sell
the full mag, and when I asked kept on thinking I ment the
stripper clip that goes into the mag. Wonder if they became more popular when there was a drop in price when they were advertised as Ares AW338's.
