Thinking this could be a god area to branch of into when im in as i have experienced with telecommunications and electronics from my college course.

What exactly can you expect when joining the signal corps? and i expect advancement up the ranks would be tough?

Signals is now known as C.I.S. 'Communications & Information Services' and it sounds like you'd be an ideal addition to a CIS unit.

    What qualifications do you have?.

Promotion in a CIS unit is pretty much the same as all units now, due to conditions laid down in new contracts applying for promotion courses is actively encouraged.

What would you be looking at doing in a CIS unit?. ie are you interested in radio communications or the I.T. end of things?.

I only have a diploma (bachelor of engineering incorporating telecommunications and audio visual production to be precise) a 3 year qualification, my course was very broad it included radio communication/transmission, electrical engineering, allot of computer work as well.

I have read the brief description on the official site it doe sent go into any specifics, I would like to know more before making a decision...

Being part of the unit what exactly would you be doing in those both fields? I think i would be more inclined towards telecommunications/radio communications, its more of a rewarding and practical skill that fixing computers (supposedly?) in the barracks all day...

do you not have to get to 3 star first before you can join a corps?

That qual is good enough to become a radio technician or whatever they are called now.It draws tech 6 pay.

However, you still have to get into the army finish recruit training and get int signals.
But if you get through that i'm sure that they will have no problems sending you to the school of signals for a conversion course on army gear.
