have been looking into getting some decent (in-ear) earphones (for commuting mostly)

am leaning towards bang and olfusen A8s, however i hear bose also do great ones

any one have any recommendations/experiences with the best earphones?

I keep going back to Shure E2's. My last pair broke on the wire where it goes over your ear but I still haven't found headphones that sound that good and block out other noise.

shure E3g's for me, fecking great as you don't have to listen to what Sorcha and Fionn got up to on the weekend or listen to someone elses second hand take that (through their **** earphones).

Cheap and chherful Mylarone X3i's for me - the absolute best in ears for their price range and better than cetain more expensive in ear buds...

If anyone asks I always recommend the Sennheiser CX-300's. They are the best headphones i have ever had, they have great sound quality and block out most external noise. And they are dead comfortable too...

I recently had to use regular (read: v.cheap) headphones for a while, my ears were killing me cos they hurt so bad...

Seconded, I love my CX300s so much I bought 3 replacement pairs when I was visiting my family in St. Petersburg recently. Best in ears for outside use on a budget imo.

Meh, the 300's are not that good to be honest, and if anyone is set on them I always point them in the direction on the Creative EP 630 - same sound sig as the 300's only cheaper... then again the X3i's I mentioned earlier beat both those hands down.

lol, the mylars beating the CX300s is totally a matter of opinion, they always have sounded very bleak to me.

    Super headphones.

My iPod headphones are mainly thrown in my bag so I use a cheaper set than I would normally go for, and use Beyerdynamics DTX50's, the audio quality is great and the price is reasonable. I go all out for my home headphones though, but for commuting I wouldnt say you need to spend too much money.

Check this link out http://www.iheadphones.co.uk/shopdisplayproducts.asp?page=1 (in-ear selection)
my advise would be pick something in the £40-70 range in either Sennheiser (not the CX300's), Beyerdynamic, Shure, perhaps Audio Technica even

Well, I'm talking about the X3i's not X3's, even then I do not follow what you mean by "sounded very bleak", how does something sound bleak?
Anyhoo, when I initially bought my CX300's 2 years ago I ended up using them for 3 weeks solid, but was so unhappy with their boomy bass and shrill highs that I switched back to my PX100's, I used the 300's from time to time since then but never religiously because, compared to other buds, they sound pretty crappy - this is my opinion of course. I like the neutral sound of the X3i's, the sound is clean, clear and the bass is nice and punchy, they suit my metal down to the ground, and at €40 euro they represent truly great value for money, and they're is no risk of accidentally buying fakes.

Just gonna ask scatman, what's your budget? if you can afford nice buds then there's no point in us even taking about the x3i's or e2c's or cx300's/ep630's

The CX-300's are pretty good for their price. The V-Moda Vibe's are great too.

Another vote for the Shure range. Also ideal for long haul flights and blocking
    out the background noises.

I always choose the CX300s. Had a long debate with a friend about them and the shure e2cs and I just think the comfort level with the seinnheisers is amazing.

I study in a library that has a lot of reverb sound due to it being all glass so I usually wear ear plugs. However I eventually just started wearing my seinnheisers because they were just so comfortable to wear for long stretches of time.

i used work in a shop that sells them and they are the cheapest headphones EVER!

i prefer creatives own brand ones to be honest.

mactard, I have been toying with getting these for about 6 months or so now, but one thing that keeps putting em off is the build quality. I have heard so much talk about them breaking, and to be honest I just tend to chuck my mp3 player & 'phones in my bag without a case (I'm not careless with them though). have yours had any problems??

Shure E3g's with foam tips ...

Have to disagree with the shure e2c's. Have a pair which i don't like. The sound quality is good, not amazing, and they do block out most back ground noise... but wearing them feels like you're being ear raped.

    I'm going back to headphones.

not if you get inserts made for your ear.

a little excessive for just commuting but it feels like i have nothing in my ear as they are so comfortable.

Yup my first pair of X3i's broke slightly... the cable came loose but they still worked... I had no problems in having them replaced and the current ones haven't had any issues and I've been tougher on them this time around :pac:

Saying that I've since upgraded to Jays Q-Jays so the X3i's are now my knock about buds.

sorry to hijack this thread but looking for similar advice
my Sony MDR-D66 have given up the ghost this morning after 5 years excellent service, unfortunately they're not made any more, so looking for advice on something similar.
seen a few reviews of sony's updated versions
Sony MDR-D777SL Altus HD Headphones http://www.audiocubes.com/category/H...eadphones.html
has anyone got these? would you recommend them? i've seen some mixed reviews.
What I'm looking for is something that will play an odd mix of music through my creative zen 60gb (nothing requiring too much bass) without annoying anyone else on the bus beside me, also found the D66's great for on flights too and that is as well built as the D66 and that will last nearly as long. Oh and that are Headphones not in-ear yokies, don't mind looking like a geek wearing them!
    Willing to pay around €120/$160/£100stg.
    Any advice?

I use earphones regularly while jogging or in the gym. Could I be causing damage to them?

I have seen sweatproof/waterproof earphones advertised..are these necessary?

Currently using very cheap ones, but am going to invest in the CX 300s.

    Thanks.

My CX300s are brilliant, although im interested in the CX95's to see what they are like?

I have a pair of Shure E5c that I got for free which are great earphones, but I just cant wear them as taking them in & out is a nightmare.....

    S.

another recommendation for cx300's. Lost them the other day and have been looking to get them replaced. Dabs.ie seems to be cheapest at 40Euro inc delivery.
