A bit dissapointed after hearing the Gavin man on the radio this morning being fairly dismissive about shooting as a form of vermin control. Doesn't the man realise if we want to have half a chance against the general rising anti-tide that we'll have to fight the same corner whether we like it or not.

At the end of the day hunter is hunter, be it on horseback or with a gun we face the same opponents.

Being a farmer myself, hill sheep in Connemara, I can say for sure shooting is very effective against the likes of foxes, greycrows and magpies. I speak from personal experience both as a farmer and shooter. I can't speak for any other type of farming or shooting but I'm sure others here can.

Gavin has the unfortunate tendancy to come across as a buffoon. He was all nice to the NARGC when they turned up at the HAI meetings and stressed the need for solidarity.

Whenever I hear him talking I wish he'd get his cop-on in gear with his mouth before opens it.
