    Hi All,

I was looking at buying a new car and have almost decided on a Renault Clio 2001 with 53k on the clock at a price of €4,900.

Any opinions - reliable car? I'm hoping it will get me through the next 5 years.....!!

I bought a new clio in 00. Never gave a hint of trouble despite being mistreated for its first couple of years (it never saw a mechanic for that time).

Its still going strong as my mothers car.

Thanks Stekelly for the help. I am trying to decide on whether to buy a Clio or a Corsa.

I want a 1.2 Ltr engine, around a 2002 or 2003. I saw some over the weekend and I can't make up my mind. I like the controls of the stereo on the steering wheel in the Corsa which the Clio doesn't have, but thats not a good enough reason to just take a Corsa!

Has the Clio really got va va voom or am I being sucked in!!

    HELP! I can't decide!!

The old Clio is probably the best built Renault in ages. Some Clios have remote stereos. (I actually thought they all had them! not on the wheel, behind it)

Most models of Clio I've seen had the steering wheel controls. (been a few in my extended family) . As colm says, they are tucked away just behind the wheel, connected to the colum on the right.

Re the corsa, the only one I have experience of is my cousins 2000 one. It was a dog and I didnt like driving it. Pedals were too close together for my likeing.

Generally Clios are better equipped. As said they tend to be one of Renaults better cars and give very little trouble.

I would go for the "Le Sport" special edition model which was available a couple of years ago. It had electric windows, cd player, remote central locking and alloy wheels. The Clio seats are also very nice and comfortable.

Corsas are yuke like most Opels imo.
