Me and 11 freinds ( 5 girls and 6 guys) are planning on going to America for a few months on a J1. We would like to go where its not amzingly difficult to get jobs and is a good laugh. The 3 states talked about are San Diago, Chicago and San Fransico.
We won't go San Diago because its meant to be Ireland in the sun during the summer, and we are not interested in just meeting people we know from college, home, etc. So its between Chicago and San Francsico. Has anyone been to either of these states, or BOTH, cause that would be great to hear which is better. Im 21 male, and the majority of the group are the same age, so the ease of getting beer isn't a big deal.
    Thanks:D

Was in Chicago in 2006, It is the bee's knees. Really enjoyed it. Fairly easy enough to pick up a bit of sunshine employment. Weather is excellent and the people are friendly. Laid back city. would go back tomorrow in a heart beat.

Firstly, all of the above are cities, not states.
Chicago and S.F. are both fantastic. I've never worked in S.F. but back when I was J1-ing it was apparently quite hard to live and work in.
A lot of people crammed into apartments seemed to be the done thing.
Might be a good idea to try a city where not many people go. Rents will be WAY cheaper in Portland, Seattle, etc.
