anyone know if I can use Irish ATM laser card (with the maestro logo) in ATM machines in Canada/USA. bit of a vague answer from the bank. anyone got personal experience.

Yes it will. If it has a Maestro logo look for any ATM with a Cirrus/Maestro/Mastercard logo on it.
