    Hi

I'm wondering can anyone help me with this problem.

My PSP just decided to stop turning on - but only when the battery is in it.

If I take the battery out it works with the plug but if I put the battery while its turned on a locked sign comes at the top left and stops me from being able to move.

I've been checking Google and I see about the bricking of a PSP but it can't be that as i haven't downgraded the firmware and it still turns on.

This just happened out of nowhere any help

You haven't bricked your PSP which is good news.
The pressure of the battery must be causing an open circuit on the PSP main switch. They are right beside each other. You could try and move the switch from hold on power position with battery out a few times and try it again.
