Want to get this as a present, but can't seem to find it anywhere!
Would have thought I'd be able to pick up a copy for around €15 max.

Play.com only have the 2 disc special ed for €74!!!
    http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/124095/Disney-The-Lion-King-Special-Edition/Product.html?cur=258

Cdwow don't have it at all... and amazon.co.uk are more or less the same as play with it for £30!!

    WTF??

Can it be found on DVD as standard?

    thanks for any info

Disney release an old classic every year. The Lion King was released a few years ago, its now out of print, thats why its so hard to find. My ex-gf got me one during the summer on ebay, i think she paid about €25 for it.

I was the same as you, looked on all sites, shops, 2nd hand etc but couldnt find a copy.

Ebay is your friend for this dvd.

It is locked away in the Disney vault. :) Try eBay as mentioned.

    That's for a used copy.

I imagine the Disney Vault thing has people jacking up their price.

Read on some HiDef site that its pending Blu-Ray release sometime this year, which might mean a re-release on SD. So you might be in luck if you can hold out a couple of months

I have always found that a lot of popular kids animated and CG-based films are always a lot more expensive than 'regular' films. Probably taking advantage of the fact that most parent wont say know to their little angel.

The worst is the shocking price of Anime over here. I was looking at Beck Vol. One and it was 39.95 in a local shop. There are three episodes on it, thats 13 euro an episode.

Even back in the days of VHS, Disney were always more expensive than others. They release limited amounts every year or so.

thanks - I can go to a Virgin after work today. Hope you're right.

Thanks for all the replies folks. Thought I lost the plot!

If it's not on play it probably isn't in Virgin. I wouldn't get your hopes up too much.

Disney have an 8 year system. They only release the classic once every eight years, so its in limited production, then goes out of print and thus becomes rare.
Silly me, waiting three years for The Little Mermaid to be released, then when it was hoping it would go a few euro cheaper, only to come across it in HMV a year later for €37 and to be found nowhere else. The more general release dvds are averaging around the €20 mark anyway.
