I'm working in a bank for nearly 3 years, i'm still a cashier with not much signs of going up and the money is preety poor. I was wondering would anyone have any idea of what i could do for a career change? I suppose the civil service would be one but its pretty hard to get in to.

What are your skills, while you were in the bank did you receive further training i.e. banking courses... do you have a degree/cert, would you do a part time study in a course of your interest and then leave the bank? Most banks would pay for your training/study

Hey Wasy - you've 3 years in Cashiering - so by now you'd have done FX, Swift Payments, you'd have great product knowledge, AML Training, Data input and Cash Reconciliation, Account Reconcilaiton and Customer Service Skills.

These are all highly valued disciplines for other Financail Services roles. I was a Cashier for a Bank for 18 months and then moved into Back office support roles where I was for 5 years - now I recruit FOR banks.

There's plenty of roles advertised on the net for people like yourself - you should have no problem getting out of the banking hall!
