    Hey guys.
I'm trying to figure out how to make a 2d image 3d (so that you need the red/blue glasses to see it properly).

I need/want to do a whole bunch of images like this, so could someone please show me the technique used using the following image? (outline version included)

    3d.png

any help here would be much appreciated.

I'd say this is as good an explanation as possible?

    Hope ur into problem solving...

Letsee, your figure's done in a pixel art style which is kinda limited to 3/4 (- 45 degrees?) or flat (0 degrees) view normally.
In order to create the 3d effect mentioned in http://stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov/classroom/3d.shtml you need an actual 3d object to get that stereo-opti-what-ya-call-it view cos you have to take 2 pics of said object from only slightly differing angles, not what your stuck with in pixel art.
If you really want that effect you're gonna have to re-draw (I'm assuming its a bit-map image) in a vector type package. The handiest would be something like Adobe Illustrator CS as its quite easy to transform 2d images to 3d using Effects>>Extends then adjusting the angle of extension (default is 3/4) though your image would probably look like a lego man. That may not be a problem for ya but the hair would be a logistical bog (at least for me anyway:o) Then rendering it as pixel art again is another story...

I'm sure theres a 3d package that can render a 3d pic as pixel art with some fancy plug-in no doubt but its probably too expensive & too much hassle.

A quick fix solution would be faking it in Photoshop by moving 1 or 2 colour(Cyan/Magenta/Yellow) 'masks' I think they're called-its the pallet underneath the Layers pallet in PS. Heres an example: Daniel Paul - Outta Space cover- http://www.sonarkollektiv.com/images/large/sma6005.jpg

    Hope this is useful:rolleyes:
