I have just purchased a car which I have been chasing for ages, a Davrian Imp. ( A Davrian GT floorpan with a fibreglass Imp Saloon body bonded on top)A similar (possibly the same) car was raced at Mondello by David Hall from '76 to about '78 or '79. The car was then sold to Vivian Candy who ran the car (with Eddie Jordan's Team) in Marlboro/Captain America colours until about '81 or '82 before it was sold to the Uk.
Does anyone have any photos of the car when it competed, especially in the marlboro colours? I intend to race the car in the 2008 HRCA pre '79 series and would like to return it to its original livery.
Bit of a long shot I know, but I thought I'd ask!!
It was known in motorsport circles as The Hallspeed Imp, this might jog someone's memory!
    any help appreciated.........

Any pictures? Are you sure it ran in Marlboro/Captain America colours? I don't seem to remember it. But could be a senior moment! :(

    Yip 110% sure.
It was Eddie Jordan's team. They ran a Formula Ford, a Formula Atlantic and the Imp. here's a pic of EJ with the Atlantic and the Imp in the background.

Yep! remember it now - don't have a snap though. Captain Americas used to have pictures of all their cars on the wall in the restaurant many years ago - long shot but worth a try. Try Brian Foley at Auto Ireland, he has a huge selection of motor racing shots. Might be worth posting on Autosport Nostalgia forum - never know what turns up.

    Good Luck

    You read my mind!!
I spoke to Brian yesterday, and a few other "snappers" from the period, who were all very helpful and are gone to try and dig out what they have. I also mailed Captain America's yesterday, too!!
    Fingers crossed!
    and thanks.

you could trawl through the images on Con Connolly's site - he goes back to the 70s!

Thanks for that. Con's has been through everything but he hasn't anything. He reckons he started in late 79 or early '80. I did manage to get some fantastic shots of Hall in the car from Oliver McCrossan though :D

Plus, Captain America's have opened a new restaurant in tallaght very recently and the original press cuttings of the Imp are framed up on the wall upstairs......from almost 30 years ago!!!
