Setting up WAP on a Toshiba G500

So i got my hands on a G500 for free... at least for now.

Its unlocked, unbranded, so right now i got my vodafone payg sim card in it.

I've come from a 3510i, so its a bit of a jump for me. So i've got this nice shiny HSDPA capable phone, and its got no settings to let me use anything.

I assume i have stuck in what i found on the net for a basic gprs connection and what was on my old phone (just changed the homepage from wap.e-merge.net... yes its that old) and nothing. Tried a few more things and nothing.
I've tried wap.vodafone.ie, isp.vodafone.ie, live.vodafone.com with various ip's that i found from googling, but none of em worked... and from what i can tell the live.vodafone.com one should definitly work.

When i go to internet explorer and set it to use the new connection i have setup and try to browse it shows the icon the top right that it trying to connect and then it will sit there all day or give a pretty generic could not reach error.

Im using live.vodafone.com, dublin dublin for username pass, 10.24.59.100 as the ip and setting it up as a gprs connection.

Also, if somone can solve my problems, what kind of ludicrous charges can i expect and is hspda even possible for a payg user?

the vodafone settings are in a sticky at the top of the forum. Here's a direct link

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=106942

did you find somewhere to tell it to use a proxy and to use port 80?

    and live.vodafone.com is right

if you get the live apn to work, you'll pay 99c a day for up to 50mb, so 30 a month for full access

Yeah i was following that thread as much as i could.

It doesnt have proxy settings in the gprs connection settings... it has proxy settings elsewhere in the brilliant wm5 way, and they are a little confusing.

In the proxy settings it has the following options.
Connects from (i put in WAP network)
Connect to (i guessed The internet)
    Proxy (tried 10.24.59.100:80)
    Type (tried http,wap,socks4)
    Username, password (tried dublin,dublin)

I dont think the problem is the proxy though, i still havent been charged anything so i guess its not working.

p.s. Got a text first thing this morning from vodafone saying thanks for upgrading our phone and hope you enjoy it... i got the twilight zone music going through my head.

In the proxy settings it has the following options.

    what are the options here

Connect to (i guessed The internet)

    again, what are the options

    Proxy (tried 10.24.59.100:80)
that looks about right but i don't know if that's how the phone represents it

    Type (tried http,wap,socks4)
not sure on this one. i think its http though

    Username, password (tried dublin,dublin)
    they're definitely right

Have you tried a new sim card. If you are on a really old vodafone or even an eircell card it may not be capable of using the GPRS or any of them protocols
