    Hi All

Im a 22 year old male and Ive been reading this forum quite regularly over the past few months while ive been out of work due to health reasons thankfully ive got the all clear now and am dertminate to change my old bad habits.....thankfully this forum has giving me the motivation to go back to the gym even after my last failed attempt over a year ago but this time im delighted to be back and more dertminate than ever!

Basically im looking to bulk up using weights and also lose the belly ive gained threw cardio and my diet. Unfortunately im a fussy eater but ive cut out crips, chocolate, coke, take aways ect and my diet is as follows.

Usually drink around 2litres of water a day.....

    9.00am - Weatabix & Yogurt

    1.00pm - Browne bread & cheese, apple & bananna

6.00pm - Glass of low fat milk & piece of fruit

    7.00pm - Gym

    9.00pm - Usually potatoes & fried mine

Could yous please advise me on my diet if possible. Also over the past few days ive been thinking of buying some Whey Protein to add some protein to my diet for weight lifting. Im new to lifting weights and whey protein so any tips/advice will be extremely helpful. Im hoping to go on my first holiday since two years ago in April and hope to have lost the belly and gained much needed musle in before then! Is it possible??

    Thanks a million in advance

Your diet is serverly lacking in protein which is very important for both gaining muscle of losing fat and some of the carb sources could be better and there arent many veg and your diet also lacks Esential fatty acids which comes from oily fish like salmon, mackeral, flax oil, soinach, nuts

3 Square a day is bad if you're lucking to bulk up as you become catabolic around 3.5 hours after eating - probably sooner given your lack of protein. This is bad for bulking.

Try for 5 small meals a day

    e.g.

    8am breakfast
    11am meal 2
    2pm meal 3
    5.30pm dinner
    8pm meal 4
    11pm light snack

    Or something like that :)

    Fanfan, good luck with it.

However, is there really a point in every new person posting up their diets here and looking for a custom built solution? Surely reading the stickies and having a trawl through the search function would throw up heaps of similar threads.

It seems that recently this is all that is popping up on this forum.

^ I agree, it's to be expected with the new years rush I suppose but a good read of the stickies will cut down on it a lot.

Nope its not impossible but to build muscle and lose fat at the same time is pretty difficult. Depending on which goal is more important to you i'd say focus on that first.

If your a fussy eater tbh your going to have to go out and find foods that are clean and you find palable.

I think the diet you posted up really is going to help at all with your goals as others have said read the stickies. I know others have commented on your lack of protein, your diet has not a single non starchy vegetable listed.

Whey protein is a supplement, great for adding into porridge in the morning time or getting protein into you at odd times during the day but tbh your diet needs a lot of work with or without supplementation.
