French Satellite

    Hello,

    I've just moved to Ireland and I want to have french tv. I looked on the www.satellite.ie site and saw this product being sold " BBC,ITV Free to air dish and Ferguson receiver with installation". I just have a couple of questions if someone could answer them. Does this come with a satellite and would it pick up french tv? Basically all I want is TF1, France 2,3,5,Arte and M6 which are the stations everyone has.

    Any reply would be appreciated because I don't want to pay for something and then find out I can't get what I'm looking for.

    This system might suite you but you would need to point the dish at Atlantic bird 3 at 5W http://www.lyngsat.com/ab3.html. You will not get TF1 there as it is not broadcast in digital clear from this location. However if you got an old analogue system and point it at the same satellite you will get TF1 but not france5. You may find an old analogue system on buyandsell.ie cheap. Remember with the analogue you will need a TV that can display secam otherwise you will be watching in black and white.

    Also on AtlanticBird is 'Arte', my favourite French channel.

    That cheap 'BBC' system, pointed at AtlanticBird (@5west) (Instead of Astra @ 28.5east) will get you France 2,3,5 and Arte (instead of BBC).

    If you have contacts in France, you could buy the appropriate 'TPS' viewing card and get TF1 and M6 plus other channels. For that, you'd point the dish at Astra @19.2 east.

    With the same dish and some more equipment, you can receive more than one satellite.

    For best results, pay an expert to set it up, there are some good ones listed in the sticky.
