Can anyone tell me is there a vehicle like the Renault Kangoo (price and space) which can take back seat passangers and have a descent size boot in which to fit dogs.

the citroen berlingo multispace will do the job. drove one for a bit. enough space for 5 adults and a newfoundland in the boot.

An estate car? Plenty room for 5 people and boot big enough for 2 medium/large dogs.

not to forget the "gorgeous" Fiat Doblo

It very much depends on how big your dogs are and how many you have. We have three (large, medium and small), I ended up getting a van (although that was admittedly a bit overkill and not just for the dogs)

Not all estates' boots are as big as they look. Some are quite low, others are narrow, others are too short. While most of the estates (with exception of more flashy sports tourer types) have a good load capacity measured in liters, the shape of the boot may not always be ideal for certain types of dog to fit in there.

Estates are usually too low for big dogs, whereas the likes of Kangoo et all have a fairly short boot and large dogs would have to travel sideways (which not all like)

The Dacia Logan (the red one in the pic) could make a cheap and cheerful doggy taxi if you want to buy new...unfortunately it is (still) not available here
