But in response, yeah love this band. Got their album about a year ago and it's one I keep going back to. They have some live shows coming up (not mentioning where as I'm not sure if the evil empire have anything to do with them)

Some decent singles, sound like a million other bands though. Might check out the album.

Btw there version of Avril Lavignes ''Girlfriend'' is brilliant.

Seriously? The Arctic Monkeys output has been vastly superior to the majority of bands over the last few years. What eactly makes them appaling?Is it there catchy riffs or clever lyrics? Maybe its the fact that they are actually succesfull that you dont like. I hate this attitude that just because a band is popular they are crap.

I don't like the artic monkeys. Never did - before they were popular and that would have no influence on my decision anyway. I just don't really like them. I think they are way over hyped and there are better bands out there - PD are but one of them.

EDIT: Appauling may have been harse!

i'm not particularly a fan of Pigeon Detectives by any means but for some reason i can withstand them in comparison to the majority of the crap new british indie bands that came out last year, i suppose they've had a couple of remotely catchy songs but nothing great in musical substance or longevity, they will be off the radar in two/three years

but anyone who says their music is superior than Arctic Monkeys is either deluded or pursuing a dislike agenda of Arctic Monkeys

I saw them in the Button Factory before Christmas and they do put on a great show. The front man was full of energy and looked a bit like Tom Dunne about 15 years ago!!

Having said that and despite the fact that I do like their album a lot, there is no comparison between them and the Artic Monkeys' - apples and oranges!!!

Would recommend them live though!

I only know the one song 'take her back' and it's a great song. Why are they always compared to the monkeys? I cant f*cking stand them but still would listen to pig eon detectives.

More like the new Fratellis or hard-fi methinks. All laddish chants, nothing new or interesting.

I say this after only hearing the singles, but they haven't lead me to give their album a chance.

there album is very good give it a go.!!:D

Cracking album, seen them at the festival of which we do not speak during the summer. Great performance which made me buy the album, excellent front man too

So what you're kinda(but not really) saying is that people who do like the Arctic Monkeys have worse music taste than someone who is deaf....

Crackin album for a debut. It's great fun and full of energy. Any band that has lyrics this great is good in my book -

A song like 'I Found Out' is the perfect festival song to rope in the crowd for the backing vox.

Fair enough if people don't like them and they aren't revolutionary but it's just a feel good album.

and where exactly did i mention anything about their popularity? :rolleyes: well done on a completely ridiculous reply though. why don't you claim i hate them because they're more successful in life than i am too!

the majority of bands over the last few years? maybe the ones that MTV2 plays, yeah, overall, not a hope. but sure catchy riffs makes them brilliant, right?

clever lyrics? bwahaha, yeah, because they're not recycling the lyrics of every other young working class brit indie band of the last 20 years :rolleyes:

what makes them appalling is their distinct lack of originality, and generally, their mundane re-hashing of basically everything that they're copying.

Really good album and great live. They're not original or groundbreaking in any way but are very good at what they do. They are a step above most other indie/brit pop/rock thats around at the moment..

A band doesnt have to be groundbreaking to be a great listen.
