    Hi guys,

If you were to leave a club, would your handicap card still remain valid for use in open competitions?

I ask because a person i know said that they can be used for up until two years after you leave a club.

He said this info is up on the GUI website but i cant find it anywhere.

Im not sure I believe this at all but would be interested to find out, so if anyone can shed some light on the issue it would be much appreciated.

    Cheers.....

You have to be a member of a club I thought.

Just cause your in the database doesn't mean its ok.

Where do your cards go back to.

I thought you had to play 3 cards in your own course every year to keep your handicap (Open to getting knocked down)

I think if you move club you get allocated a new gui number. i can recall being told that when i joined a club.

The name of your club should be written on the back of your card.

Am assuming that the query is regarding leaving a club but not joining another?

In that case I agree with earlier reply. You'd have to have a home club to have your cards sent to. Had a very quick look on the gui website and somewhere it said under handicapping the player is obligated to have one handicap only which shall be allotted and adjusted by his Home Club and, if so required, produce a Handicap Certificate. That handicap shall apply elsewhere including other clubs of which the player is a Member.

So if you have no club a handicap from a prior year would not allow you play in open GUI comps.

    Ridiculous question IMO!
    No Home Club-No valid Handicap!

Would be some bright sparks "clever idea" to get a Handicap from a club, say 15, play there for 12 months and just when they thought they were going to collapse down the Handicap pull out. Therefore, the 15 (who should be off say 11!) will continue to play off of 15 even after a couple of wins!!

    Ridiculous...
