    Hello all
    i have the following problem.

    1) Old computer was hit by lightning and is now deceased. It had XP installed.
    2) Hard drives in the old computer are working fine.
    3) New computer has Vista Home Premium on it.

I cant use the Vista transfer cable as the old machine isnt working. Can anyone advise me on the best method to transfer the info from old to new?

EDIT: There are 2 Hard drives in the new computer and no spare SATA connectors :(

was the old hdd ide or sata. if its ide do what MR.S said to do and plug it onto the new computer to transfer all the important files over not XP and then u can choose to use it as normal or sell it off.

Buy an external usb/firewire HDD enclosure and stick the old drive into that. Hook it up to the new computer and delete all the Windows stuff off of it leaving the files and folders you WANT to keep. Now you have an external drive to use too. :D
