I was in Paris yesterday, to do some shopping. I didn't pack the camera because I'd a good idea of what I was going to be lugging around and it didn't allow for the camera.

It doesn't get dark until after 5.30 there at the moment (bit different to here). Anyway, on the Champs Elysées, there are fabulous Christmas lights (not gone yet), and there's a Ferris wheel on Concorde.

When you cross the Champs Elysées at the Arc end and look down towards Concord, the lights just meet at the edges of the Ferris Wheel. It looked fantastic. I have never seen anything quite like it.

I don't intend to miss it next year.

Ah ****e Treasa. I hate it when that happens. I was walking back from Julie's one evening and there was an entire family of foxes frolicking about in the garden of a derelict house. Would probably have been too dark but I was sick anyway.

There'll always be beautiful photo opportunities in Paris :) I was walking to work the other morning past the Mater. They're tearing down the old nurses home at the moment. There was a digger parked on top of a pile of rubble. Behind that there was a space where a window used to be with a piece of plastic hanging off the edge of it and you could see the sun rising through the window. Think it would have made a nice shot but I didn't have my camera.

Actually, funny story about this.. I was in Currys in the carraroe retail park in Sligo one day last year, and I spotted dirt cheap digital cameras, no brand, no real 'quality'.. Because I like spending money and I'm a mammy and kids do the craziest things, I decided I needed a 'handbag camera' and bought it. I went back to the car with my new purchase, and a helicopter lands just down from me in the car park. I couldn't get the stupid plastic packaging opened fast enough and ended up with a crappy photo anyway  You can't win!

on my first holiday with my brand new slr I went for a walk on the beach (in france) but decided to leave the zoom lens behind. Once I got to the beach I spent the next half hour watching a military exercise 300 yards off shore - helicopters dropping divers into the water, speed boats and jetskis picking them up, bringing them back to larger boats, transferring them back to the 'choppers and the whole thing repeating.

Was down the west at a music festival years ago and was in the town at some stage on a lovely sunny day. Two old ladies , identical twins, were walking down the street in identical purple polka-dot dresses.
Would have made a classic photo.

This was taken in 2005 in my pre DSLR days and unless they have changed the lights it should be roughly the same

This one is from this year but just shows the ferris wheel
