putting together my first FTA setup, and i was thinking if i'm going to be on the roof running cable why not setup for more than one sat ( astra 1/2 and hotbird)
so looking online i found 2 solutions , 1 was a monoblock which will allow me to recieve 2 signals the other solution is what looks like a housing bracket for between 2 and 4 lnbs. the bracket may suit my needs better (able to add lnb when budget / time allow) but which one works better or is it much of a muchness and i'd be better off altogther with a motorised system ( i'm a bit paranoid about these rusting ? basically moving parts outside the house exposed to weather)

I'd opt for the multi-LNB bracket too. Using this gives more options, like receiving a third satellite, and using quad LNB's etc.

I wouldn't recommend using a motor if the dish is going to be in an unsheltered position. Since you mention climbing your roof, I'm presuming your dish is going onto the chimney.

    The monoblocs have several problems
The fixed spacing is for Germany 13E & 19E and particular dish. If location, satellites or dish is different the spacing is wrong.

Inflexible to feed multiple receivers or add 3rd or 4th satellite.

Separate LNBs is only solution for Ireland.

The Motek motor is fine with weather (but I'm on coast).

I'd not put a satellite dish on a chimney. It rarely wants height. The windload of a larger 80cm or 110cm dish (needed for Multi-Sat reception or mainland Europe beams) is too much.
