Im sorley tempted to buy the Star AW-338 but in my research i have been unable to source extra magazines for the gun, i can only find the Mag strips which hold the bb's. does anyone know if/where the full gas mags can be found?

    The STAR AW338 is awesome!
VERY HEAVY, VERY LONG and the optics are great
with the scope that comes with it.

I've been searching for ages for a spare mag but cant find one.
Star themselves don't even sell the FULL magazine on its own.
as in the bit that holds the Gas and not the BB's.
Am not too pushed at the moment as I am only a collector (so far)

The Magazine I got with mine had a faulty inlet valve,
I got a new one for it. Your supposed to only use 134a gas with
this AW338 but I have found the BB seems to travel very very slow
and sometimes clears the barrel by only a few feet.
It also sometimes give trouble filling it, you dont know when its full or not
as there is no noise of the gas going in!!

Propane works a little better but it still feels like there is very little
power being the BB and looking at it flying across the air it looks slow!
At 10m a .2g BB will not break a Clay (Clay Pigeon) yet any of the AEG's
    and pistols I have will!!.

I chrono'd mine before I cant remember what the fps was.
with .2g's it was hovering around the 328fps mark cant remember
what it was with the .25g

Just in case you have not seen the pics of mine they are here:

I had 16 cats now the number is down to 12. All but 2-3 were
born from the same (feral) mother that myself and the girlfrend
spend over a year trying to catch and spay. It took several tranq tablets
    to knock her out.

i dont think i should need to mod it in any way, according to AI magazine it fires at 299.3fps on 134a gas which it well under 1J

correct me if im wrong and if so how would you recommend to go about downgrading it?

Redwolf will install a valve for you for about 50 dollars

I was looking at this gun and I'm thinking it really would be useless with our weather

No point in having a gas gun that is under 1j, its only really worth it if you want your gun shooting 500+ cos its so in consistant, get yerself a g-spec.

that would be out of the question as i want to use it for skirmishing so must be under the 1J mark

would weather conditions (i assume temperature) have much of an effect on the gas mag?

The G-Spec would probably be more practical for an actual skirmish
(not that I would know) the AW I reckon you would buy just for the sheer
coolness factor and Non-practical side of things.
