How do players benefit from 'sponsored' events.....added prize money? reduced reg fees?
    Or do organisers only benefit?
I may be thick but can anyone explain or give an example where players benefit?

I think when events carry sponsorship alot of the time it means alot more satellites into the event which I would say is a positive for players.
Also sponsored events generally attract larger fields which in turn creates a larger prizepool.

Take a look at this event. :p

For the Masters we're able to deliver a fully dealer dealt, low buy-in tourney with €0 reg fee that you can easily register for in any town in Ireland. This simply wouldn't have been possible without a sponsor.

I can see where you're coming from in terms of a tourney like the WSOP though. I think reg for the main event works out at 6% which is crazy when you consider Harrahs makes an absolute fortune from TV rights and sponsorship.
