Thought that was a pretty badly put together trailer actually. I am really looking forward to the movie though. They got the suit spot on and Ive grown to like Robert Downey Jnr more and more over the last few years.

Cannot wait for this. I'm a big fan of the comic and think Downey Jr. is perfect as Tony Stark. Hopefully subsequent films will examine Stark's alcaholism, and Downey is the perfect actor for that.

This looks like it's going to be very good... Iron Man was a good pick for the big screen. I like how he is still a bit of a git.

I dunno, I preferred the other trailer.
Granted it was longer but it had the 'Merchant of death' line at the start.

Are they leaving out Tony's rampant alcaholism?

Thats my favourite aspect to the character :(

    War Machine movie ftw hahahaha

I thought the other trailer was put together better, that one is a bit choppy and not edited the best - however I am looking forward to the film. We're trying to see about comics forum outing to see it when it opens in may if anyone wants to come along with a bunch of comic fan boys and then head to the pub after to talk about it.

They're introducing the aloholism in future movies.

Yeah, I do prefer the other trailer, but I'm quite excitable about this, it looks like they're doing a very decent job with the film.

As far as I know, it's in there, but I don't know to what extent.

I've read an interview saying the drunkeness doesn't kick in til the second film. :) The first trailer is better, but they both make me want to see the film.

Im guessing then that some sort of 'tragedy' befalls our hero at the end of this film to drive him to the drink...? Not really familiar with the Iron Man mythos myself.

Before he grows up by nearly being killed by his own munitions, he lives the life of a playboy, drinking to excess and bedding women. After coming back the tragedy of that which he has faced while being held hostage and realising he is a "Merchant of Doom" drives him in a downward spiral of alcohol abuse.

Depends on who is writing him though. :)

The first trailer is a little clearer with that

its up on apple movie trailers in HD.

i have to admit its a really good tv spot. they dont usually give away that much in the first one or two and we get to see some nifty stuff. if they manage to balance the wit and action in the film like they did in this add iron man could turn out to be the transformers of this year ! :D:D

    Massive lols

. Not so sure about the

Looking badass. They started advertising this late last year. I was thinking jesus, they're advertising this early.

Honestly excited as hell about this one, with Iron Man, The Dark Knight and Hellboy 2 coming out this summer, it's looking to be possibly the best summer for films in a long time.

well seeing as its shaping up to be a battle between iron monger and iron man and the former knows who the latter is i think that takes care of your second point

Its gna be good its nearly a certainty. They have nailed every single aspect of what iron man should look and act like, they seem to be sticking very closely to the comic BUT I have to qualms. Iron mans villains arnt great and I cant think of really great iron man story like the phoenix saga or the venom arc , most of iron mans best stories include him with other support characters like Spiderman or the avengers. The 2nd one is the last scene in the trailer is unbelievably cool BUT the cgi looks like it would make a great animated movie but iron mans movements don't look natural. The rest of the cgi looks fantastic so maybe its just that bit?anyone else agree ?

Yeah, Iron Man had some really sucky bad guys and I can't really see him fighting Communism in this movie.

Well, Jeff Bridges is playing Obediah Stane/The Iron Monger, who is the main villain of the film. Essentially, he's the evil counterpart of Iron Man, and depending on how Bridges plays him, he could be excellent.

    yup
he nicks tonys tech, something that tony had to contend with alot in the comics which is a nice touch. in fairness i always thought iron monger was one of tonys better foes. never really liked the mandarin that much and industrial espionage makes much more sense

have to admint to looking forward to seeing jeff bridges again. he was a great actor back in the day and i was very surprised to hear he was in this. actor wise this is a really good cast.

    Exactly!

Bridges can be excellent as well, so perhaps there are a lot of crappy Iron Man villains, but I think they're absolutely nailing the best for the film.

True but they are planning a trilogy and they do want Mandarin to play some part in that.

Ah, I'm not massively aware of the Iron Man backstory (though I do hope to find the time to educate myself before it comes out). I was just afraid of
    another damned Judge Dredd

Meh, planning to. They played to do a trilogy with Serenity as well, but that didn't go to plan. It's all on the long finger really, and doesn't matter unless they're filming the 3 back to back like LOTR. As long as the first Iron Man is up to scratch, we got us a winner. ;)

Anyway, if done right, the Mandarin could be an interesting character. Just consider how different Heath Ledger's Joker is to Cesar Romero's, so there's plenty of room for new designs on the villain characters.
