Hey chaps. I boot up the UPC Digital box this morning and the damn thing won't let me watch anymore tele! It requires me to enter a three digit activation code, any idea what it might be? The staff don't seem to know I'm talking about  Am in Waterford btw.

    Cheers!

I think it's an area code. For example Dublin is '131'. Can't help you with W'ford.

Chorus cards are activated over the air. NTL cards are preactivated and paired with the box.
I'd guess you have an unactivated or mismatched card. It's likely only NTL can sort you.

If it ever worked, check card is in, otherwise UPC will have to come out.

Thanks for the replies. Weird that it suddenly decided it wasn't working no more. NTL are coming out Tues to take a look, sucks though when all I may need to do is enter code.

    Is it a DVR?

No, the standard digital box that comes with NTL digital.

Front of the box is "UPC Mediabox"

If it's a media box than it's the Personal Video Recorder (PVR).

If it's a media box than it's the Personal Video Recorder (PVR).

UPC introduced new boxes to replace the Pace one's, it could be one of them.

The 135 code registers fine but I suspect I should be using the Waterford code, will leave it as is for the engineer to look at. Card or box could be faulty for it to suddenly need setup all over again :(

For the benefit of any future searches, the Waterford code is 291 :)

Does any one know the Galway code, my pvr seems to be stuck in an update loop for most of the weekend.

Figured it out, Galway seems to have 3 141/142/143

Mine started doing that a few months ago ... continuously rebooting and coming up with the "software upgrade in progress ..." message. No amount of resetting, or forced s/w upgrades helped .. eventually bit the bullet and rang UPC and they replaced the box. Not a problem since.

My parents have that issue sometimes. They turn it on and it looks for a code, then searches for channels, etc.

The code they use is '000' btw, seems to work anyway.

Try 361,this worked for me in Mullingar, when the Westmeath code did not. It sets the region to "UPC Ireland"

thanks for that it worked for me. Theres now another problem. Even though the channels are tuned in most of the appear as a black screen. the only channels that i can get perfect so far is bbc news 24, the nickelodeon channels and EWTN. Any ideas??

For the record: I'm in Cork and I used the 121 activation code, which seems to have worked perfectly.
