I haven't had a chance to verify this myself yet but it looks the changes are minimal:
    • 16:9 version now rather than the 4:3 dvdscr
    • 1.5 minutes of more dialog then dvdscr
    • last minute is a little different too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,404 ✭✭✭qwertplaywert

Didn't they remove the terminator in the classroom scene? Was reading somewhere about that.....

Thought it was okay, not the worse of shows, but hardly anything new, and certainly missing the dark humour T-2 had. Will give it another chance, mainly due to the legend that is Summer Glau :D

They also re-cast Sarah Connor's boyfriend. He's now played by Dean Winters, he of Oz & Rescue Me.

I read somewhere that there had been quite a few changes from the pilot, this included, but no. Apart from the re-cast of the fiance and a slightly different ending, it was the exact same. The story didn't change at all. Overall I wasn't too impressed with this. Still watch it though.

Am I alone in thinking that this was (is) a ridiculous show? Lena Heady (sp) is ok as Sara Connor but everyone else was terrible. Especially Summer Glau.

I'll not hear a bad thing said about Summer Glau! In fact I'm banging my head against a wall as we speak so that I forget this ever occured!

Question. Have there been enough changes to make it worth my while to watch the newer version

i haven't watched the latest one but there was only a few cgi effects missing from the earlier version so i wouldn't imagine it would be worthwhile unless you are a completist

Watching episode 2 and I must ask, why does John Connor need to go to school if it is so dangerous to do so?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,323 ✭✭✭wet-paint

Argh, take that back Valor! She's nicely cast as the terminator, reprising her role as a take no sh1t ass kicker!
I for one want to see some kinky robot love between John and her as it'd be a travesty to let a season go by without getting to see some nekkid Glau. I am not a crackpot.

[edit] Also, anyone catch the 1337? :-D

For plot reasons I imagine. He might get targeted by a bully and then Summer kicks ass!!!!!

2nd episode was reasonably good. Like so many shows this season, its ok to watch but not something I would go out of my way to watch.

I'll watch it until it gets too bad to watch, ala Stargate Atlantis or something better comes along ala Chuck vs. Bionic Woman.

And yes, the first episode is identical in pretty much every way, bar few little extra bits of dialogue, the different actor for the love interest and a big glaring plot hole. Warning 2nd episode Spoiler:
We were told numerous times throughout the movies, that nothing inorganic can go through the time portal thingy-majob. This one of the reasons the terminaters are sent back, as they are inorganic robots covered in organic tissues, i.e. cyborgs, sorta. Yet why do we see the first terminaters head flying through the portal and ultimately leading to him ressurecting himself in the second episode. Tsk, tsk.

jayzus! I didnt even know this thing was in production. Just watched a trailer on the tube.......my word.....!

I've been a huge terminator/alien/predator fan since I was a kid,I also believe that movies are not made the the standard they were in the 80's and 90's. There's too much in your face formula to modern movies it really fries my head. im hoping that Rambo 4 will be a return to the slightly grittier and yes, slightly cheesier format that made the classics, classics! anyway,I was advised by an equally big fan to avoid T3 at all costs. I've managed to do so and I'm happier for it! I'll be avoiding this like the plague.

    lol I noticed that too.
I thought it was a bit daft the why the terminator goes looking for his head - funny - but a bit too incredulous - having said that it did add to the entertainment value.

Have to say I also thought the second episode was better then the first. Not great but good never the less.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,082 ✭✭✭lostexpectation

the head was probably still covered in organic material when it went through the portal...

it seems okay, hope it is a battle as promised.

what is with the terminators that they can't sense a car coming? three times it happened in the two episodes...

len headley was very lucky to get the job, anyone remember her from soldier soldier I watched it but can't remember her...

is that the guy from oz or third watch...

It's not the most cerebral television, but it has been moderately entertaining so far.

Bring cast as the female lead in '300' prop helped.

    3 episodes in and...

I wasnt too impressed with episode 1, Ien Headley wasnt great as Sarah, didnt like the evil terminator, but John Conor was pretty good. Summer is pretty much the same as she was in Firefly which isnt a bad thing (if Firefly was stilling going or had gone for a few seasons...then it might have been annoying)

2nd episode really brought the standard up, Ien started fitting into the role more, and the series is dropping lots of threads for plot details to be addressed over the season. I didnt like the
headless terminator thing much, and the insane number of time travellers seems to be pushing it.

3rd episode I thought was fantastic
turned stupid headless terminator into a brilliant plotpoint that looks to bring alot of the original movie's charm into the series, I hope that character goes from strength to strength
They've replaced the flashforwards of the future with Sarah Conor's bizarre dreams which is a nice reminder of T2 and a godd thematic element and the school subplot can go really bad or really good
so far the harshness in how its approached with suicide etc is hinting it will be good

Personnally I like the series, I think its picked up alot after the weak start.

It's definately got promise, just hope it doesn't get too complicated with all the time travellers/ing. That stuff always does my head in :p

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 4,569 Mod ✭✭✭✭Ivan

Yeah, finally got to see the 3rd episode of this and I'm with Blitzkreig, I'm actually begining to believe I could enjoy this show. Yes, its full of plot holes and what not but the elements they've built onto the whole main aspect of the films, i.e. terminators, is surprisingly well done. Its definitely surpassed my expectations in the acting department too.

    And
the terminater coming out of the bath full of blood, was fantastic cinematography. At the very least it seems to have excellent production values.
I am worried though that each episode is going to be a replay of the second film, Sarah figures out someone that might have/will build skynet and then tries to kill/sabotage them. Could get very repetitive.

Third episode was a good bit better than the first two and, if it kept up, this could be a decent enough show. It kept it dark (particularly that bit at the school) and it showed how tough decisions had to be made. Hope they cut down on the Summerinator's "how to act human" stuff though - been done way too many times.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/showbiz/showbiznews.html?in_article_id=509521&in_page_id=1773

British actress Lena Headey has been criticised for looking too "emaciated" to play iconic action heroine Sarah Connor in a new Terminator TV series.

While the show made an impressive debut, with more than 18 million US viewers last week, Headey's lean physique has quickly been put under the microscope, with some deeming her unsuitable for the part.

Hamilton turned the character into a "butt-kicking inspiration to millions of women," according to the Los Angeles Times.

But now a critic writing for the paper says: "Some who worship at the altar of Sarah Connor detect heresy in the casting of Headey, who's healthy-looking and attractive but not exactly Ms *******."

Linda Hamilton got seriously toned for her role in Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Others are less gentle in their criticism of the West Yorkshire-born actress, whose films credits include The Remains Of The Day, 300 and St Trinian's.

Under the microscope: the British actress' new show is a hit but her body has attracted criticism

Boston Herald critic Mark Perigard wrote: "I'd like to give her time - and some pasta - to help her grow into her jeans. Headey looks remarkably like actress Lara Flynn Boyle. She's a twig of an action heroine."

The Sarah Connor Charm School, a Terminator fan group which focuses on "physical feminist empowerment", is also unimpressed by the choice.

The group's spokesperson Kym Lambert said: "We were very upset to find out that a very thin and non-athletic actress had been chosen out of, supposedly, hundreds to play a role that we as physical feminists found so inspiring."

British feminist and novelist Bidisha echoed the group's concerns.

She said: "I am shocked to find out that the producers are clearly sanctioning a new, weedy silhouette in such an iconic and genuinely groundbreaking role.

"There are two issues here: having a toothpick-thin, feeble-looking Sarah Connor is a crime against the iconography of the character; and presenting a clearly emaciated actress as a heroine is a crime against women."

For her part, Headey has played down the unflattering comparions to Hamilton, blaming her lack of bulging biceps on a shortage of time to work out.

She has said: "The film had the luxury of more money and more time."

"If they were going to give me a month, and a trainer every day, and a chef, then it would be fantastic... it's a TV show, for God's sake!"

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which also sees British star Owain Yeoman fill Arnold Schwarzenegger's original part, will air in the UK next month.

one would be that terminator models cant operate while there head is independant from their body, let alone comuicate with one another.
There have been a few things not making sence in this so far, its good to watch and the gereral responce to it is good as well.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 4,569 Mod ✭✭✭✭Ivan

Inorganic things like guns or robots (or cyborgs without an organic shell) cannot use the time travel technology...
Time-travelling is a very rare occurence and not something that can be used all wily-nily...
    etc. etc.

    .

My understanding was that the terminator had the organic shell and so entered the time travel thingy, whatever they were doing, but Sarah shot him with that bizarre gun she had just as they went into the future. So it had already gone through but was then blasted the shell was gone. I think that is what they were attempting.
