NTL/UPC Broadband Settings?

    Hi all,
I set my uncle up with a G3 iMac there last year and now he''s got broadband installed. Only problem is the engineer that came out to set him up "only ever saw 2 Macs in his life" so couldnt "run the installation CD" to set him up.
I'm sure there's no need for that and all you need to do is type in some settings in System Prefs.
Thing is I'm studying in the UK and my uncle is not computer literate at all and there's nobody else who can help him.
Can anyone give me the settings for TCP/IP and PPoE that he needs please?
I'm sure they'll have given him a username & password.
    Many thanks in advance
    R

he should be able to plug in the ethernet cable from the mac to the cable modem, make sure the ethernet TCP/IP settings are set to: using DHCP... so that he is automatically assigned the IP address etc

i do remember giving my laptop to the NTL guy who logged into an admin site and fiddled around for a bit when mine was installed though... if your uncle's doesn't work maybe he needs to get that bit sorted out for him by NTL...

    Thanks for that DubWireless,
Are you sure thats is? Just turn on DHCP?
Are there no DNS numbers to fiddle around with and what about passwords?
Also while I'm at it what should his SMTP settings for Mail be?
    Thanks a mill.

I switched from ntl a while ago but as I recall there was no real set-up involved. The modem handles everything, just set TCP/IP to use DHCP as DubWireless suggested. I never really bothered with ntl's crappy email accounts and webspace but there are probably details on their website.
