Ebay bidding .. what gives?

    Hello,

I've been bidding on Ebay for the last few months but today when I went to bid on an item, one of the other bidders automatically put in a higher bid.
The thing is they aren't online. Their last login shows as being days ago.

Has anybody come across this before and can it be outsmarted?

    Jimmy.

When you bid first, you put in what your maximum bid is then eBay automatically will bid up to that amount.

When they bid up to a certain amount, their bid isn't automatically raised to that. Instead, the system waits for the next bid and if lower than a previously entered bid, their "current bid" is incremented a little higher above yours.
    can it be outsmarted?
    Bid higher.

Beware of auction snipers too. These are people who wait till the last moments of an auction to outbid you. Or get an online program to do it for them. It makes sure you get an item you want and helps keep bids lower, but its darn sneaky.

Doesn't ebay have a new bid assitant facility for all users, could it be that being put into practice? I assume it works like an auction sniper program but its ebay authorised.
