    Email From MS today,

Dear Windows Server 2000 MCSA or MCSE,

As a customer certified on Microsoft® Windows ServerTM 2000, we are writing to inform you that the exams supporting your upgrade path to Windows Server 2003 will retire on March 31, 2008.

    The retiring exams are:
Exam 70-292: Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment for an MCSA Certified on Windows 2000, and Exam 70-296: Planning, Implementing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment for an MCSE Certified on Windows 2000

The strength of Windows Server 2003 in the market today indicates that demand for related IT expertise will continue for years to come. The best way to demonstrate you have those skills is with the MCSA and MCSE on Windows Server 2003. These credentials will not retire.

In addition, Windows Server 2003-certified professionals have the most efficient path to the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 certifications; there is no direct path from Windows Server 2000 to Windows Server 2008 certification.

A free retake of your next exam is available for a limited time through our Second Shot program to facilitate your certification completion efforts.

Microsoft Certification is a valuable asset that can help you achieve your personal and professional goals. We appreciate your interest in Microsoft technologies and Microsoft Certification.

    The Microsoft Certification Program Team

    You May be wondering:
After these exams retire, can I complete a Windows Server 2003 credential?
Yes, but you will need to follow the direct path to Windows Server 2003 certification.

Will the MCSA and MCSE on Windows Server 2000 credentials retire on March 31, 2008?
No. The MCSA and MCSE will continue to be recognized by Microsoft and by organizations seeking skilled professionals for Windows Server 2000; only the exams will retire.

How do I prepare for the upgrade exams?
Visit the preparation guide for the exam you plan to take:
Exam 70-292: Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment for an MCSA Certified on Windows 2000
Exam 70-296: Planning, Implementing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment for an MCSE Certified on Windows 2000

Where can I find my exam history?
