    Hi,

I recently broke the aerial on my car and am looking for a good place in Dublin to get a new one fitted. Any suggestions. I am not looking for top of the range, just good enough so that my radio will not keep cutting out.

    Cheers :)

Gave Consort Motors a ring but they only sell the parts, don't do fitting. They told me that I would need to go to a main dealer because it was a side aerial, ie. original Toyota fitting.

Rang one main dealer who said that it would prob cost approx €50 - €60 to fit new aerial.......not too bad but it is only a basic aerial, no motor or anything to fix so wondering if it is a handy enough job that I could do myself or not.

It is only the rod part of the aerial that broke, all the fittings seem to be there but are very tight

what model Toyota is it, is it a telescopic aeriel or just a simple 1 piece rod that retracts down the inside of the windscreen pillar (like on Corolla, Hiace, Hilux)?

Telescopic aerial, not on a motor or anything, just basic. Car is a 95 Corolla.

get one from a scrapyard. screws are a pain alright, just get a correct sized head on the screwdriver and it'll come off without damaging the screw.

I recently fitted a new bee sting antenna to the roof of my nissan almera.

    shock horror it leaked.

complete disaster even though i had a rubber seal etc with it.

bought in halfords and it took a couple mins to replace.

ended up lacing the whole area with white silicone and then screwing the aerial in place.

anyone had this experience with replacing bee-sting antennas from halfords??
