    Folks,

Weather permitting, I'm getting connected to Lastmile broadband tomorrow (1mb down andc 256k up) . My laptop has an 802.11a/b/g network card in it. I want to buy a wireless dsl router and I'm looking for some advice.

Considering that I want to be able to use the laptop anywhere in the house or garden would the signal from an 802.11g dsl router be sufficeint for this or do I need a G+ or N1 router, either of which I'm told will give me a stronger signal. The advertised coverage area for the 802.11g router is 75 meters, and this would be sufficient, but would the signal be strong enough to go through two or three internal walls of the house plus the external wall if the laptop is being used in the garden

    Thanks

With some brands you can use a second Access Point as a repeater to cover dead spots . You could use Homeplug type units to put an AP at either end of the house/best location.

A DSL Router won't work with Lastmile. You need a router that has a WAN port, not a DSL port.

Thanks IrishTLR, I went into Click in Athlone and purchased a Canyon G Mimo wireless router. When I disable ESSID Broadcasting (which I assume is the same as SSID Broadcasting) I lose my connection to the internet. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated.

If you disable the SSID you'll need to configure the connection manually. See the screenshot below
