    hi,

    I recently purchased a mac mini with a superdrive. when I try using Verbatim dvd-r dual layer disks to backup an iso image of 6.4gb using toaster it complains that i need to use a suitable writable disk.

    has any one any experience of what dual layer disks are compatible with the super-drive ?.

    tia

    hi big_moe

    thanks for the quick reply. But on the apple web site it says:

    <snip>
    Slot-loading SuperDrive with double-layer support (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW): writes DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL discs at up to 2.4x speed, writes DVD-R and DVD+R discs at up to 8x speed, writes DVD-RW and DVD+RW discs at up to 4x speed, reads DVDs at up to 8x speed, writes CD-R discs at up to 24x speed, writes CD-RW discs at up to 16x speed, reads CDs at up to 24x speed

    <snip>

    I get a dvd+r dl disk tomorrow and give it a whirl.

    regards

    hmmm, so it does..

    wikipedia says different.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superdrive#CD_and_DVD_drive

    i'd believe what apple say more so than wikipedia.. although the wikipedia article would explain your trouble!

    Go to system profiler and check the disc burning capabilities. Its different for different Minis, I think.
