One of my relations had her ds damaged by an over-enthusiatic toddler who sent it flying and managed to crack the top screen. Is this likely to be covered under the warranty or could anyone recommend where to get it repaired?

    Thanks.

    The NDS, not for kiddies!

Is it the old style? I think DS have a two year warrantly, if its newer than 2 years give nintendo a ring.

If its the old style Ds i'd consider fixing for ya if you cant find anyone else. I wouldn't do it for free but i certainly wouldn't be dear either!! What exactly is wrong with it? Is it the actually screen that is cracked or is it the case?

witnessmenow the warranty does NOT cover accidental damage.

OP try dealextreme.com. They have the tools and pieces you'd need to fix it.

Sorry I should have been more specific, its a ds-lite. Any links to specific tools to fix the screen would be helpful. I can only see the screwdrivers on dealextreme so far. As far as I know its the screen. I probably won't see it till the weekend.

Thanks for the suggestions so far anyway.

If its the hinges of the case they'll cover it. And if its the screen you woke up one morning and it was like that maybe?!!

Heres the upper screen for a DS Lite.

I really recomend going for this screw driver , a mile better than the red one. Yo'll literally open your DS in half the time!!

Cheers for all the links and the tips on dealextreme. Way better price wise for the screens than anywhere else I've seen. Just ordered replacement screen and screwdriver and will have a go (got the word to have a crack at it come what may).

Found a decent guide here on replacing the lower screen so the upper one shouldn't be far different from this.

    Thanks again.

I have a replacement shell for my DS Lite , so if i do get around to changing it i'll let you know and if there is anything i can help you with just shout. Or i might be asking you questions either:p

Make sure you use the right size philips screw driver makes life so much easier!! I got this set in B&Q for about €3, its definitely worth getting something along the same lines.

Put your volume control to either max or min ( the slider can come apart when console open so its easier to resit if its max or min)

Note that the power button points up to the shoulder buttons(basically same reason as above)

Thats about all the advice i can give you. Good luck!:)

Thanks again for all the tips. It should be an interesting little project anyway. Hopefully dealextreme aren't their usual slow selves about delivery. Will update on any difficulties.
