Where would I get one to fit the UMP does anyone know, dont think it has a standard muzzle.

While on the subject how are airsoft silencers constructed? Whats on the inside, im just thinking of using one as part of my tracer project.

Can you screw off the flash hider? You might need an adaptor for it.

some are just metal tubes ,others have a light foam insert that gets shredded if your hop up is off,

going to put a heavier insert into my TM one to see if it makes it more supressed

The silencer I have unscrews both ends and has just foam rings inside it.

If you're planning on putting UV leds or the like inside the silencer, I wouldnt have thought the the bb's would be in it long enough to soak up enough light, could be wrong though. The torch shining out the end of the gun might be a give-away too :P

Personally think the led's inside the hicap are the best solution, but its of course up to each individual mag...

Iv ordered UV LED's and im sourceing BB's ATM (either ebay or airsoft scotland). From what i've seen they don't need much exposure to the light source to glow for the 2 seconds of flight thats required. I have some ideas for how to not make it a torch on the end of the gun too :D

This vid gives an idea of how reactive the BB's are

yeah glow in the dary BBs are very reactive to UV light, a lot more than they are to white light.,I would have thought the UMP has a thread under the flash hider. there might be la little tiny hex head screw in it to stop it comming loose.,

There is a hex screw alright I haven't tired to take off my one at all though. Both Star and G&G make silencers specfic to their models.

    EDIT:

Problem solved the G&G one fits.

I believe the G&g has a one piece barrel and the De being a copy of the G&G it follows that design, anyway the G&G silence is a very nice bit of kit, its a btt pricey but its built well with a nice matt finish, has a quick attach / detach system, will fit the star ump, with me it also came with a spare ump style flash hider.

I have a silencer with the kinda foam rings inside it, the only problem is thatthe bb's seem to fly out at all angles no matter how much much i fiddle round the hop-up

Sounds like the bb is hitting the silencer once it has left the barrel i've had this before, what model was the airsoft device and the silencer?

When i had this problem i found out that all it was doing was clipping the top edge of the silencer when it left the device, all i needed to do was enlarge the hole by about 1mm and it never happened again.
