Yeah lid slippage tends to be a problem when i do it on the pan, was hoping using the microwave would take that hassle away

I microwave lots of jars, with lids on too, loosely. The whole metal in microwave thing is largely misunterstood. If you have thin metal it causes trouble, some jars have fancy metallic print on them, think sharwoods do, these will spark in the microwave.

I save my jars, cook up batches of food and store in the jars, then microwave directly in the jar with a loose lid.

Read up about metal in microwaves if you are unsure.
