A lot of slating of RTE comedy here tonight, so I just thought it right to post that I thought The Panel was top class tonight. Best of the series imho. They all were comfortable, funny and give off the impression that they just don't give a sh*t. Loved it.

pretty good ecept for ms. token, saying wierd unfunny things, too many animals stories and abrupt subject changes. good guests though.

tell the poor sick children why you don't want to save the hse!?

i thought it was fantastic too. I'm not a great fan of Ed Byrne, but he was on fire last night. And the guests were hilarious. I was pissing myself when they were going on about the ship shaped bar the poet had. It really was so surreal, I couldn't stop laughing.

See, now you'll go back and watch it next week, assuming it'll be great, and it'll be the worst show ever :D

The Panel is still a great watch, one of RTE's better ones. Although that Dermot(?) guy is painfully unfunny. He'd tried to go off on one about dogs in tuxedos or something and it was painfully unfunny.

It's like he's just waiting to plant a scripted anecdote from his stand-up routine whenever he can get away with it, rather than being relaxed and going along with the actual subject they're talking about.

Was Mairead on it last night?

She was, baps hanging out as usual. She's obviously very aware of her reason for being there.

That Dermot dude, he had some show on before about soccer or something he'd have guests on. He kept cutting across his quests thats the only thing i remember about him from then....who is he, is he a standup or a writer or something, he's not a bit funny.

    Mairead is a little ride.

Though she seems obsessed with telling animal stories for some reason?

He's part of the 98fm morning crew.

Dont usually watch The Panel as I find them, mainly Maxwell annoying but the John Cooper Clarke interview was very good.

And who is Mairead Farrell anyway. I was told she was on Ray Darcy's show but anytime I've heard it she wasnt there.

    Mairead is a little ride.

Dear god, are you serious,If i had a bag of langers i wouldn't give her one!

I'm tempted to switch off every time i see her name in the credits. She's uninteresting + unfunny with an obsession with her kid and children in general (Ed Byrne is so right)

If they must have a token female at least get one who's good looking (and maybe mute...it is a comedy show after all)

Sorry guys but i have to stand up for the girl. Mairead Farrell is the only girl that they have on that will shout down the lads. The women are always shouted over. I've often watched Mairead trying to make a point about 5 times and eventually having to give up coz the topic would be over by the time she gets a chance. So maybe she would have something to say if she was given a chance.

Yeah I don't think she's that bad in comparison to most of the other women who have graced the Panel. Some of whom have been downright terrible.

She's not as funny as the men but then again they are all professional comedians and she isn't.

Has Maeve Higgins ever been on the Panel?

Nice one. Panel is repeated on 12/1 so I'll be able to have a nice gawk at Mairead again, as is my wont.

The Panel is not nearly as good as it used to be. Daire O'Brian was a great presenter and since he left its gone downhill.

Andrew Maxwell is very funny but he should limit his appearances as he could go the way of overkill, the same as Delamere and Murphy have.

Ed Byrne is the one who is consistently and his experience always shines through, he may not be liked here but I couldnt care less.

Mairead Farrell is painful and should not be let near a TV camera, gobby.

that's cos she's not a professional comedian and she can't interject with quick witty quip

here me trying to make a point about her being a token woman and then there loads of posts about her boobs.

    Two classic lines...

Neil, you're from Offaly. Do you think you'll divorce your sister?

    and

I've got a pet Johnny Depp.

    That was pretty sharp alright.

I went to the Panel a few weeks ago (ok, maybe it was a few months ago now) and it was class. Colin Murphy was presenting with Neil Delamare, Andrew Maxwell, Dermot Whelan and Aoibhinn Ni Something and it was genuinely funny the whole way through. Maxwell and Delamare in particular were very good. The Mayo bird barely said a word and just smiled a lot, which was probably for the best. Nice to look at mind you.

Who was the other woman who used to be on it in the beginning, Fiona Looney or something. She was actually funny in a witty way, rather than just the shouting match the show has become with everyone trying to say the most disgusting thing they can. I did like the guests this week, which the quality of the show always hinges on. BRING BACK DARA O'BRIAIN AND FIONA LOONEY, the only funny people in RTE/(BBC) who don't need to be disgusting to be funny. Get rid of the laddishness and they'd be alright.

Cant remember who that woman was, but definately bring back dara o brien. Theyr like all the little people without any leader. He had some control over it. I totally agree about the laddishness. Being disgusting isnt funny. But boys will be boys.

Whatever's wrong with The Panel bringing back Fiona Looney isn't the answer.:D

At least Mairead and Aoibhinn are nice eye candy even if they do nothing else.

Its definitely horses for courses. A lot of people must have a masochistic streak if they think there is anything remotely attractive about Mairead Farrell. Never seen anyone with nothing of any interest to say yet be so up herself. The very epitome of what is wrong with Irish women.

Read my mind there. Watched the repeat of the panel on Friday night and was wondering WTF she was there for  BRUTAL.

And that IDIOT Dermot Whelan from 98fm...dont even get me started
Looks like he's not old enough to do a paper round ffs.

FYI Dermot -NOT funny. I know the jokes on us though, as our TV License money is paying your wages.....arrrgghh.
