how to format a memory key on mac

i have a mac os x macbook, and im trying to format a flash drive, i already tried formatting it on a windows machine, but then i plugged the flash drive nto teh mac into the macbook and it said it koodnt recognize it, why is this? anyway how do i go about formatting a flash drive on a mac?! thanks very much ed

Use Disk Utility. Remember how you formatted your harddrive? Same thing. Select the flash drive from the sidebar and format it as FAT32 or MSDOS. It'll then be readable by both mac and windows.
