Has anyone looked at the books you can buy from http://www.houseplans.ie/ ? Are they much good or are they recycled from other already available sources?

They are alright for getting ideas from (copyright issues excepted). While most of them have a facility for ordering, it might be a better idea to consult with somebody in your area as all new houses are subject to the relevant county development plan. By all means, show whoever you consult with the page from the book that interests you.
