    Hi everyone,

I am a member of a Dublin club for the last 3 years and am looking around to see if there are any other alternatives.

Does anyone know of a membership scheme that costs less than €600, on a pay per play basis that enables you to keep your GUI handicap?

    Thanks,
    Gary

I pay 450 at elmgreen. Hollystown is very similar (375 this year i think). Further afield you have corballis (around 400 per year i think).

    hope that helps.

The Christy O'Connor Club in Silloge Park near the Dublin Airport cost €375for a year and a round ranges from €16 to €25 depending on the day and the time. I know that they are looking for members at the moment.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

My main concern is the condition of these courses in winter. Without trying to sound like a snob, but some of those course's mentioned (I am a member of one mentioned) are diabolical.

    Thanks again,
    Gary

I'm also looking for a club to park myself for 2008 just to maintain a handicap. Sick of coughing up an annual fee of over 2k and I certainly did not get my money's worth in 2007!!!
DubGF, which club are you with? Played at one of the listed clubs recently and was put off by cigarette butts and litter on the fairways/green and certainly wouldn't join it.

This is my first year as a member at elmgreen and i have to say i'm pretty impressed by the condition of it at this time of year. It's proper greens all year round, and yesterday they were really quick and true and probably better than they were mid-summer.

The course itself is generally in good nick too for the time of year.

According to the Hollystown website its 475 with 25% off green fees, bit steep if you ask me!

Apologies... i meant 475 euro (i should really re-read my posts before i click submit!)

This time last year i was swithering between elmgreen and hollystown. The advantage with the Hollystown discount would be that the 25% discount applies all day every day. At elmgreen its only before 1pm weekdays and on sundays.

I'm joining Elm Green for the year ahead. It's competitions every Saturday, but do you pay the full green fee for these?

Comps every Sunday and the green fee is 11 euro all day.

Albeit. thats still 30 blips for a green fee in Hollystown (25% off €40) €11 for a green fee in Elmgreen before 1pm (Non member was €32 last year anyway) thats a big difference than the discount in Hollystown IMHO.

yeh, but Hollsytown is only 40 quid at weekends... during the week it's much cheaper i think. Your right though elmgreen is by far the better deal with regard to member discounts.

I'm a member in Sillogue, bit of a shabby set up IMO. But anyway, I was wondering are they looking for members in Elmgreen as comps are only every 2nd sun and every tue in Sillogue. I can only get out at weekends and waiting every 2nd week is a pain. I've played Elmgreen a couple of times and each time I've enjoyed it each time, nice track, 2 or 3 good climbs but otherwise flat enough.

i played elmgreen last year and have to say it is the most boring uninspiring course i have ever played. i could not wait to get out of the place. i know it is cheap but a bit of thought would have gone a long way.

I think that's a bit harsh, but each to their own as they say. For what it is, it's not a bad track at all imo.

Golfnuts.... yes, they are open to members at the moment. Give them a call and they'll send you out a membership form. There's a comp pretty much every sunday. One or two stablefords, a monthly medal and a team comp each month during the summer.

During the winter there's either a 12 or 14 hole comp on pre xmas. After xmas it's 12 holes in a winter league format.
