Help with Xbox live on NTL?

Have had an Xbox for a while now but have never bothered hooking it up to play online so I've decided to give it a go.

I have your basic NTL broadband and TV package so it runs into the back of my cable modem while the blue ethernet cable runs from the modem into the back of my PC. What do I have to do to hook this all up correctly? Presumably I need to run a ethernet cable from the back of my Xbox into either the back of my PC or cable modem?

    Thanks for any help.

Hi there, i have the exact same setup as you. Basically you have two options, 1. is to manually plug the blue ethernet cable into the XBox anytime you want to use XBox Live. The XBox will automatically be assigned an IP after a few seconds and then you can play online. The problem with doing is of course that you can't use the internet on your PC while you're playing on the XBox. So option 2, you're gonna need a router to allow you to have the two plugged iin at the same time. I use a Linksys Wireless WRT54G Router.

    My system is setup is:

The NTL Broadband is downstairs in the sitting room, and that's where the Motorola Cable modem is.
The ethernet cable from the Cable modem is connected into the WAN Port on the back of the Linksys Router.
On the back of the Linksys Router there are 4 additional ethernet ports to let you connect any device you like - so I have my original XBox and my XBox 360 plugged into 2 of the ethernet ports.

My PC is upstairs and it is connected to the Linksys Router wirelessly.
There are also two other people in the house who connect to the internet wirelessly using their laptops.

So it's the best solution I've found so far :)
