    Hey all,
Iv been sitting here wondering.....i got back from england and i bought myself some new equitment i took my 20D and used my equitment on that. When i got back i cleaned my 300D sensor(thanks for fajitas help)I stuck on my nifty 50 ad went and took a photo of my cat which i really liked and would class it as one of my best photo's.My question is,if one of you just bought a brand spanking new body like a 1D or something and after using it for a while you shot a excellent photo(even your best :p)with your old back-up would you feel annoyed in anyway that it was'nt on your new expensize cam.Sadly i wont know what it would be like as iv never spent lots of money on a new cam.But let me know how you'd feel?:D

Wouldn't bother me. My 400D will be used as a backup in the next couple of weeks and it's about the results I get and not about what camera I use. If I manage to get a good shot with the 400D so be it, it wouldn't change my mind to keep using the 40D.

    I frequently shoot with two bodies - 40D and 20D. If/when I buy a 1D, I'll still use the 40D as a 2nd body. It's a must to have a 2nd body, for sports photography. You don't have time to change lenses.

So, I'd always make sure to have a 2nd body when possible.

It's not the body that gets the shot!

As PaulW says for Sports you need two bodies on the go.

When I pick up my new D3 next week (in belfast) I''ll still bring my trusted D50 and the D200 along giving me extra latitude in lens choice.

You give a good photographer a Canon G9, and a poor photographer a 1D, Where is the best photo going to come from ????, It's the person behind the lens
    thats the important.

I haven't used my 3000 (Film SLR) in a while mainly 'cause processing colour film gets quite expensive. But I will be reverting back to it as soon as the weather starts getting better.

Liam i dont mean that just eg.A pro photographer bought a dslr just to use when they came out say a 300D now he has a 1DS and he's just bought it and then he shoots a pic with his 300D which get in the newspaper.Im asking would that photographer(as in any of you)fell abit annoyed that you've spent a couple of thousand on a new cam when your old one is still doing an excellent job

ricky91t the camera didn't do the work the photographer did the work as liamtinney was saying I personnally wouldn't be annoyed if I got a good shot with a 300D I'd just think damn I'm good

I tend to agree with many of the posters here - How many times do you view an image in a flickr stream, and go wow! that's one heck of a shot, and when you delve further you find its been taken with a p&s (nothing wrong with p&s's either). I think that mastering photography is more about knowing what you want from your image and how to go about getting it with the hardware you have available to you. Cheers.

I think the most important thing is just getting the shot. Not what body you use to get it.

Second that. Best shot I ever took was with a disposable camera! Now have it printed on canvas blown up to 40x30 and hung on my sitting room wall.

I'd agree that it's not the camera, it's the photographer, but it's way easier to get the level of control that you need with a dslr than a compact. I've gotten a few nice landscape bits and pieces with a G9, but I'll always use the dslr for sports or low light stuff (as I have some fast glass).

Even the shutter lag on the G9 (which is'nt bad as p&s go allegedly) cracks me up!

    Merv.

i've got some very good shots with a Canon G7 and i own among other things a EOS 1DS mk 2. But as the guys have said it's all about getting the shot whatever camera you have at the time.
Obviously if your doing work with photoraphy you'll have at a minimum two bodies, i usually rotate my cameras so that neither one is the main camera - that way they're both used and any probs will become apparent much quicker rather than leaving a spare in the bag only to find when you need it it's snookered!!
    :)

The advantage of two bodies - especially for sports, is that you have two lenses ready to take images. Without ... you'd get either of the images below, but certainly not both, especially if they are within moments of each other.

I'd be pretty hacked off if I got a 5D and used it and a 350D, then got a shot on the 350 that would be fantastic but needs cropped and will limit the printing capabilities that would have been no problem to crop on the 5D. Ignoring the whole sensor size thing obviously, hypothetical situation.

The answer is obviously to have 2 1Ds mk III bodies :D (or, 1D mk III if you shoot sports...)

Simple solution really. :D Now, all I need do is win the lotto or find 10k somewhere.

Of course, if I keep saving, I just might be able to afford a 1D MkIII later this year (if a 1D MkIV doesn't come out for PMA).
