    Hey all,

my Beko tv is in need of repair. It made a popping sound and the picture no longer displays. The red light for power comes on but i cant get a picture or any sound from it.

Does anyone know where i could get it repaired? I'm based in Dublin city centre.

Also, is it worth getting it repaired or would it be cheaper to buy a new TV?

    Thanks.

depends, what type of tv is it & how old is it

is there any sound ? If you have sound and no pic then perhaps something happened the tube, probably not good news, if both are gone then could be something easy like a fuse or diode or other single component which has failed and could be easily replaced.

How much will the repair guy charge you just to look at it ? Then add in the repair and parts, if any. You could probably get a 2nd hand Beko or other for similar money, and there are probably tons of people just giving away their old CRTs now that everyone has to have a Plasma/LCD.

try googling the model of your TV, the problem could be common with Beko.

thanks for the reply. its a beko CRT and when i push the power button a little red light apears in the bottom right (this is normal) to indicate its switched on and the tv is in standby mode. I usually choose a channel (i.e. press '1' on the remote) to actually make the picture come on and bring the tv out of standby mode but now, unfortunately, when i choose a channel with the remote, the red light power indicator just dims a bit and there is no picture and no sound :(

It sounds like it's stuck in standby mode

i think it might be time for a replacement.

Sounds like a line output transformer or a power supply fault. If its the LOPT it would be from 30-60 euro for the part alone..
I dont think id waste money on getting a beko telly fixed.. no offence or anything :D
