    so what has changed...

oscar... your post is a shining example of why the tournament schedule is soooo confused. no-one knows what they're getting themselves in for when they arrive.

    as a VERY strict rule....
    1 night, 1 tournament.

while i know the reasons behind the multi tourneys, you're diluting your product.

A- "whats on in town tonight"
B- "well, the jackpot is their 20 game, the SE has their 50 double chance, and luke's has a 15 rebuy freezeout with 3 tickets guaranteed at 7pm for their tournament that starts at 9pm-- not to be confused with their other 7pm game which is a €50 freezeout completely indpenent of a similar 50 freezeout two hours later"
A- "eh, so... to summarise... jackpot 20, se 50, lukes a whole jumble of stuff... ehm..."
    B- "bingo!"
    A- "there's bingo in lukes!?"

Changes - Monday is now a 30 double chance, Wednesday is 20 with 3 rebuys and Sunday is a freeroll with 10euro rebuys, round of each, prize for most rebuys.

The early Thursday tournament was your idea.

The monthly tournament is now the last Friday of the month - 200+20 buyin and the poker room is opening at 2pm every day for cash games sitngos etc.
We are introducing a new cash game, min 10euro max 50euro buyin blinds will be either 25c50c or 50c50c.

hey Oscar, do you think there'd be any interest in a cheap cash game from say 4-5pm? Got a bit of time off and wouldn't mind donating a few euro to some of the great unwashed.

These are two brilliant ideas imo, as discussed before there is a lack of earlier starting tourneys on weekdays for the 9-5'ers.

Also, I reckon cheaper cash games will do well.

The 10min 25max cash game started tonight around 7 30 and ran till just now when the tournament started, chances are it will get going again tonight and we are open at 2 every afternoon - if one or two players come in in the afternoon it can start.

The low stakes cash game is a great idea. Kudos to all in lukes for implementing it.

Am now transfering all my business from jackpot to lukes. ty.

Actually Oscar, is it NL? Or is there a chance of gettin a NL game going?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,404 ✭✭✭Goodluck2me

If its NL ill play as regularly as I can too, maybe omaha too, but that ill take on a play it by ear basis.

Was in there tonight for the first time since the new room downstairs was brought in, great addition.

Just back from Luke's. Jumped into the cash game before the tourney, really good that there is a game like this. A good way to play cash games and have a bit of craic without doing your tank. Really liked the new tourney too. Only 13 runners tonight but this should really take off. Good value, good structure, lots of play. This defo beats the gamblefest in The Jackpot on a monday night hands down. Plus finishing 2nd always helps t:D

The cash game started off last night as a round of holdem/omaha/stud but quickly became holdem only, depends on who is in the game. As far as pot limit or no limit goes - if those that want no limit pack the game it will be no limit but we want to keep the game a reasonable size aswell so when we have undecided players it will probably start as pot limit.

We will spread any game really, one possibility could be -
    10min 25max pot limit holdem 25c/50c
    25min 50max No Limit holdem 50c/1euro or 50c/50c

Great idea Oscar, would definately be up for playing a round of each low stakes cash game. I'll try and get in again some evening work this week.

i never advocated you run it, effectively,in competition to a 9pm tourney too, especially what is an identical tournament. I still think its a quality idea, and one that will benefit whichever club embraces it PROPERLY first. Lashing a post up on boards every now and then won't cut it. my guess is this game will die within 6 weeks and people will point the finger at me for my bad idea. equally, my guess is if another club (or lukes) did pre-emptive advertising, gave a bit of notice and sold it the way i had suggested it'd be one of the more successful tournaments in dublin.

edit: and can you comment on the 8.30 start times? accurate or ambitious?
edit x 2: i'm not having a go, just trying to be helpful.

There already seems to be 15-20 people interested in the early tournament who wouldnt usually play the later tournament which is the same buyin but a completely different tournament to the one at 8 30. If this tournament gets over 30 runners it will be too big so I dont see your point at all tbh, only running a 7pm tourney would be a terrible idea. The fact that we now open at 2pm means that we can run a tournament at 3 or 4pm aswell if we find a market for it and it should only have a positive effect on the later tournaments.

8 30 starts - if there are 5 players registered at 8 30 the tournament will start, cant do much more than that.

I don't generally go to casino's too often during the week and the early start would entice me more into the casino and will be defo attending one soon. Alot of players like myself start work at 7/8am and the later tournies don't help and thats without mentioning wifes and girlfiend reasons.

Lower level cash games look attractive also.

Have I misunderstood this Oscar or are u capping it an 50bb's? If so why?

Bohs Man - I know it's early days yet but are you getting many people through the doors between 2 and 4PM looking for the low limit cash games. I would be very interested in it either NL or PL. I'm a holdem player only at the minute but if it's 25/50 blinds and PLO, it sounds like a good place to learn/practice Omaha (all sharks, ignore that last comment :p)

Just trying to keep the game small, if people want a slightly bigger game we will spread it, come in and try the game as spread first and if a few of you want a bigger game we'll get it going.

Not much interest so far at those hours, its been running from 7pm till 9pm the last few days. Depending on who is in the game we've been adding in plo, 7card stud and dealers choice.

What are the numbers like for the Friday night €100 game?
Also what is the usual finish time?

In Dublin this Friday and trying to decide where to go.

Also what's the cash action like Friday night?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,881 ✭✭✭bohsman

36 runners last Friday, always good omaha cash action, holdems beginning to take off with the new 25max game very popular, if you go deep in the 100FO you wont need to worry about cash action.

18 last week, added €80 to the prizepool to make it 4 tickets.
