New Airsoft Site Opening Soon!.

    Hi All,

This is just a quick notice to let all newbies, enthusiasts, or hardcore skirmishers that a new site will be opening up in the next Month or Two in the Wicklow Area just outside Delgany(10 mins or less bus journey from Greystones Dart station).

We are hoping to have both fields up and running by the time the weather gets better and the daylight lasts longer(more action).

Currently we are trying to construct exciting playable arena's, new obstacles etc... all in the spirit of making even more places for Airsoft madness to take place.

I know myself from discussions online and a general consensus that their are not enough places to skirmish in Ireland as a whole. If you are interested in coming out for the open day (date not decided) let me know.

We would like to know numbers etc...

We aim to have a fun, cheap experience for all involved.

    Kind Regards,

    Lay

i think you want to get a mods permission before advertising youself/

do you have any experiance with airsoft

welcome to the forum , and airsoft
cant wait to see the site

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,143 ✭✭✭hoplite

Suggest you pm a mod o1s1n or kdouglas to start an official thread for you. Look forward to seeing another airsoft site in operation.

Self advertising is against forum rules but a moderator can setup a thread for you to discuss your new airsoft site.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

as pointed out by both of the lads above, you are supposed to pm myself or o1s1n to ask for permission to post stuff like this as it is advertising, no point in me locking this now though :)

nice to hear of another site, would be interested to see some pics as soon as you have them

Oh ok, well i certainly dont want to step on any toes.

I have played here and there i prefer plinking, target shooting etc... I have a Tokyo Mauri VSR 10 G-Spec, a shout gun and a very basic Double Eagle pistol. Looking into more serious AEG's at the moment.

The guy involved in it is very much into airsoft and paintballing. He mainly goes hunting though. Went shooting pheasant once with him nearly took the shoulder off me.

Do you know how i would go about getting MOD's permission?

    Regards,

    Lay

If you need me to move it or anything let me know.

    Regards,

    Lay

Hope you are not trying to setup a Kartel John ;)

Well now im not;).... No i understand fully this is not about business competition its about opening up the sports to as many as possible, I would love to go skirmishing more than just in random fields with just my friends but unfortunately Swords is just such a distance to travel for me with work being the way it is.

I would really like to get into this more, paintballing is to same old same old. I love the personal customization of Airsoft gear.

Play nice. I doubt there's any deliberate attempts at stealing your business. Even so, if someone wants to charge 1c to play all day they can if they want.

Welcome to the forum Layderkin! Nice to finally hear of a site opening out my way. Would love to see some pictures too :)

to be honest i cant see any new site undercutting any of the others, what they charge is a good price as it is and when you think about insurance and land rental costs etc.. you couldn't really charge any less

Its 2am i just realised.....I didnt expect a reply like this after a week. No one sleeps i presume.

well as the movie quote say build it and they will come,
i think the prices are quite good ,speaking for someone on a low income,

I'm only after reading that now Arcto.

Layderkin, you sound like you're new enough to the sport. One thing that's really frowned upon is skirmishing in 'random fields' or any land that you don't have authorization to play on.

Not only do you put yourself at risk of being shot, airsoft itself could be damaged because of it.

So whatever you do, don't do that.

Sounds good. Any Pics? Oh, and guys, which would be quciker for me, from churchtown, to get to(HRTA/NewSite) just out of interest.

That depends on where in Wicklow it is, and how accessible it is. I go to HRTA from Goatstown most weekends and I've managed to get my journey time to around 1 hour 20 minutes give or take a bit for traffic (or those random roadworks outside Ballyboughal).

I reckon the Delgany area would probably take less time than Swords would from Churchtown, but there wouldn't be a whole lot in it.

Either way it's great to see more sites opening up, looks like we'll have lots of places to play if we ever get that league off the ground.

A league would be great for the sport,

It would move the sport up to a new level,

But i can see a few problems,

First who would be the Body that controls the League (ie, Fixtures/results, enforce rules etc )

Guidelines would need to be set down,

I think it would be a good idea to get a group of people to sit down and have a debate among them selfs to get something down on paper,

Just some ideas but something like,

5 Man Team ( Team to be made up with no more then 1 Sniper and 1 SAW)

    Game Types

    Capture The Flag,
There are two teams. Each team has their own base with a flag that the other team is trying to retrieve and take back to their own base. The flag must be carried clearly visible.

    Hostage Rescue,
Two separated teams. The first team is divided into "Hostages" and "Rescuers" while the second team is "Guards". The hostages are spread to different locations. The rescuers can hold additional airsoft weapons to supply the hostages. At lease 50% of the hostages must survive for the first team to win.

Demolitions ( I think would be great fun )

In this game there are two bases, and an object to represent a satchel charge. The charge is placed in the middle of the
field between the two bases. One team begins in each base. The goal is to take the charge to the enemy's base. When the
charge reaches the enemy's base and remains untouched by the enemy for 2 minutes (depending on rules), the enemy loses.
If the charge carrier is eliminated anyone can pick up the charge.

    Game Modifiers

Close RangeIf a player taps his opponent in a vital area(i.e. the chest), it is the same as being hit with a gun. This simulates knife kills.

MedicsSelected players are able to heal the wounded or, revive the "dead" team mates, who must usually stay "dead" in place until they are "healed". Dead players may be allowed to crawl for a certain amount of time to a medic if they were shot in the leg.

Weapon hits Sometimes players are required to switch to their Side arm if they take a hit to their primary weapon, in contrast to normal play, where a hit to a player's equipment is the same as a hit to their body.

Ammo limits Restrictions are made on the amount of ammo available per each team, player, base or round of play.

Mercy rules Players who sneak up on opponents, or have come within a close distance of the opposing player (a close-range shot with many airsoft weapons will deliver a very painful hit), are given the option of eliminating them without firing by simply calling out, "surrender" or "mercy." However, some players do not abide by these surrender rules, so it is still an option to "light up" the oblivious player.

    Respawn

Once you have died you may respawn after the end of a game or if a medic has "tended to your wounds"

There is so much you can do, But you need to have a game type that is Fair to both sides so that the better team will win,

Got a lot of the info from wikipedia and another sites

Great to see another site opening!
Hopefully this year Cork or at least Munster will get one

Rentals are a nice way to get newbies in, maybe 2-3 clones might be in order.

Best of luck with the site, the more the merrier as long as it doesn't start a price war and then site owners start bad-mouthing each other and bring the whole sport down and ruin it for everybody.
But that could never possibly happen....

Sweet, have been considering going to HRTA for a while now, but tbh it's a bit of a mission. A site in Wicklow would be brilliant. +1 on pics too.
