So I just got one of these (about 5 years after everyone else apparently) and while I like it a lot, I'm a little concerned about the hotsync cable. It seems to get stuck kinda fast into the Palm itself, I end up sorta "jiggling it" around to get it to come out, which can't be good. Is there a trick to getting it out safely and quickly?

Just pull it straight out keeping it level. It just grips to ensure it wont fall out

Hmm, it's not that easy for me. I can't get any real grip on the part that's plugged into the palm, so as I said, I end up kinda jiggling it, causing one of the side 'grips' to come out first. I'm sure this is putting stress on the pins. Does the Palm need to be on or off? What about the PC side, in or out?

Well I dunno which cable you have but if its authentic cable there is LOADS to grip to pull it out and when you take it out you will see on the left and the right there are little spring loaded clips (side grips you mentioned) which keep it held in tight. Just pull it out straight and it will work fine. It shoudlnt stress the pins at all if pulled straight out.

Regarding whethere Palm needs to be on or off, that wont matter and same with PC. Doesnt matter what order you remove it in

Almost. The PDA side of the cable is narrower, the 2 grips are either side, I don't know what that thing on the right hand side of the head is. There are also less pins, 4 together, then a gap, then 1 on its own.

Ah yeah. The one i showed is combined sync and charger.
Anyway, just pull it straight out firmly each time and you wont damage anything
