Insurance Hibernian vs AXA

    Yo,

My car insurance is due for renewal with hiberian in the next few days and i decided to ring around for some quotes.

I rang AXA and Quinn direct and got quotes of 705e and 590e, this is for third party fire and theft, with inclusion of windscreen, personal belongings, drive other cars etc on AXA. (No intention of going with quinn direct, was just curious to see the quote)

I rang hiberian and gave them the quotes i received from the other two, but they would not budge under the initial renewal quote of 800e.

Now i think hiberian have a few extra's that AXA mighn't have, just better break down assistance and stuff like that, but i dont think i'd ever use any of these extra's.

Is it worth switching to AXA for the lower quote? I'm tempted to do it because i'm a little pissed to be paying over 800e for car insurance when i've been driving for 7 years with no claims and just about to turn 25. Three of those years are insurance in my own name/car. I do have two penalty points but i still think 800e is excessive given the stats above.

    What do ya reckon?

I wouldnt go near AXA personally, bunch of f**kers ! Im with Hibernian and even though i can get a quote cheaper i wont move from them.

Sister had an accident with another car and she was in the right and we told AXA under no circumstances to pay out to the other crowd, guess what, they did.. biggest load of un professional wasters i have ever come across, the girl on the phone basically said to the sis "you havent got a leg to stand on" she knew all this from sitting at a desk ??

I agree, i have been with Hibernian nearly 5 years and seriously have never thought of changing.I think they are really good and they are the cheapest around for me anyway.

Have you got any reason at all not to go with Quinn ? Do you honestly think any insurance company is going to give you anything more than the legal minimum they have to give you ? Well, that's exactly what Quinn gives you as well. Don't be too easily tempted with stuff like breakdown cover etc etc... the likes of the AA and RAC are sometimes cheaper in conjunction with an insurance policy that hasn't got that type of cover and don't only cover you in the insured vehicle but in any vehicle you happen to be travelling in given that you don't pay someone to be transported in it.

I'd go with Quinn if i was you. Been with them 3 years, at the start noone else would even sneeze at me. They've always been nice on the phone, if a little incompetent, and if all goes well you wont need to deal with claims etc.

Suprised with Hibernian being so dear. Did you do the ignition test at all? My innsurance is due for renewal in March, but lasy quote from them was 360 third party, fire and theft. 21 yo F. Why are you ruling Quinn out so quickly? I took the best quote I got cause Im not going to claim anyway!

So let me get this right.. Two customers of Quinn reply in this thread. One says they give the bare minimum they have to and the other says they are a little incompetent!? That's brilliant word of mouth alright! Axa are a joke for males on anything decent until you are 30, there is always someone on here moaning about Quinn and I never see anyone posting about problems with Hibernian.. Speaks for itself!

@ op: I was in the same position as you a month ago. Had been with Hibernian for the past 4 years and when I enquired about my renewal they gave me a quote €300 more than I got from Quinn and Allianz for the same level of cover. In the end I decided to go with Aliianz who made the whole process very easy. I would recommend looking for an online quotation as you get a discount.

Try AIB insurance, they quoted me cheaper than Quinn Direct and you get a €50 voucher:)

Try FBD, they quoted me cheaper than all the other companies. Also I dont think FBD deal through brokers.
What have you got to lose to shop around. Just remember YOU are the customer and they want your business.

I would stay away from Quinn, I've been withe them for 3 years now but only cause I have no choice. Its cause the type of car I have but I would say Hibernian too. I have never heard complaints about them.

My mum was with Axa and she had all sorts of trouble. A bunch of monkeys.

I wouldn't go with Quinn myself. Hibs and FBD should be alright.

Typically Quinn have a higher excess and don't like paying out money, v. strict on claims conditions.

I'm with R&SA and there fairly good, and my Dad and brother are with FBD which are good too.

I don't think €800 is a bad price at all tbh.

didnt read all the replies and before i answer just so you know i used to work for axa.

their motor rescue and 24hr service is not matched by any other company in ireland. if you live in dublin they have one of the best if not the best garage in the country as one of their approved repairers.

axa are the most expensive company in ireland in general but you get what you pay for. quinn are the ryanair of insurance companies (i have never not had to wait at least 10mins on hold when i used to be ringing their claims debt before it gets answered and they will never give a straight answer on the phone(insist on post) most people love them but most people dont crash(the basic principle of making money from insurance). it when you have an accident that you realise why you pay extra.

i used to work with 3 guys who moved to axa from quinn and 1 from allianz and they always said that the claims department in axa was so far ahead of their old company but axa will never be able to compete on number of policies(with quin anyway) as they are too expensive in comparison

if you can remember what package axa offered you i should be able to let you know exactly what extras you are or are not getting.

Try AIB insurance, they quoted me cheaper than Quinn Direct and you get a €50 voucher

i assume aib is a broker and i dont advise going to a broker its just an unnecessary layer

hibernian aliianz and fbd are much of a muchness in my experience. their claims department can be great no bad experience standsout in my mind with them.
"you havent got a leg to stand on" she knew all this from sitting at a desk ??

hahaha that is pretty funny read your hibernian policy they will do the same thing. and yes the professional doing it for years who has heard every possible accident scenario after 6 months in the job DOES know wheather you have a leg to stand on or not also the payment would of been made without prejudice so you can still take the other person to court to get money from them and then you can put your money were your mouth is

I am with Eagle Star and I someone out on St Stephens Day inside an hour in Kildare.

They offer 24 hour breakdown cover as standard as part of full comp

i didnt comment on any other companies policies all i said was the breakdown assist network axa has is the best. This is because they can get to you anywhere in the country in an average of 40mins (if i recall correctly its been a while). if anyone knows for sure that im wrong im open to crrection as im not a current employee. another thing i remember is axa run their own recovery network ie when you ring the recovery you get an axa employee not an outsourced company employee at the time i was there im fairly sure they were the only company doing this.

anyway i dont personally care if people go to axa or not all i can say is if you do you would have to be very very unlucky to not get the best service in the industry from them (some people dont get it cant deny that there are always cases that gets threw the cracks)

edit; also the only company i would not use under any circumstances is quinn but as i said already alot of people love them

    Hey
I have been insured with axa for the last 5 year's and the premium was going up every year instead of going down. I usually don't keep any receipt's so after when I moved my insurance to my other car for a week or so when my mum died I had to pay €25 and 6 month's after i had to pay it again because i didnt have the receipt so im moving to national insurance which is €250 cheaper ! and i needed the no claim's bonus for which i had to pay another €15 because as the woman in axa said ''it was send to you in the post and if you didnt get it you have to pay for a duplicate''. I checked my post and i gave her all the letter's the sent me and I still had to pay it!
People working in axa are treating consumer's like sh** do they thing we're stupid?
I will never go to axa again and I wasnt happy how they deal with their consumer's
